How to use the DLC

About redeeming DLC:

• You can redeem your DLC every time you start a new game, so they don't get used up or anything.
  
  
• If you start a NewGame+ after beating the game then your DLC items won't carry over from your inventory, but you can just redeem them again to add them back.
  
  
• You can "redeem" or watch the Skit DLCs at any time, however it's important to watch them at their appropriate time to get the most out of them and avoid spoilers. You can do this by referring to this post:

To activate/redeem your DLC:

• Alisha DLC (standalone):
  
  • From the main menu, you can select the Alisha option.
  
  
  
• Other In-Game DLC:
  
  All of the in-game DLC can be activated during the game:
  
  
  • In the in-game menu, select the first section labeled "Items".
    
    
  • This will pull up a list of item categories at the top of the screen. Navigate to the farthest right icon which looks like a wireless symbol which is intended to refer to internet/downloads.
    
    
  • This will bring up a list of all the item DLCs you can redeem.

Outfits / Attachments

• Activating these will add them to your character's inventory so they can be used during character customization or otherwise.

How to toggle the combat music that comes with a costume:

• In the Fashion section, select the character you want to modify the music for.
  
  
• Select the option near the bottom of their Fashion items called "Costume".
  
  
• With this selected, press the Del key on the keyboard or LT (Left Trigger) on the gamepad to toggle the combat BGM for that costume.
  
  
• Note: If you have multiple characters with custom outfits and you want to hear the music from a particular one, you should go in and toggle the music off for the other ones you have equipped on characters.

Pre-Order Bonus: Mystic Artes:

• When you activate this, it will give Mikleo, Lailah and Alisha 1 new Arte each that they can learn.
  
  • Mikleo: Final Player
    
  • Lailah: Silent Apocalypse
    
  • Alisha: Soulstoke Celebration
  
  
• You will find them under the Artes menu for those particular characters after activating the DLC.

Do I have to reach a certain part of the main story to start playing the Alisha DLC? Or can I start playing it right after beginning the game?

I'm not sure at what point you can start it, but I will say that basically everyone plays it after they have finished the game and you probably should too. The Alisha DLC lets you start from a completed save game, so after you finish it you can continue on to New Game+ from that save.

In this post it lists instructions for activating DLC, because you need to activate it first in-game before you'll see it. If you still don't see it, you might consider right clicking on the game in your Steam library and viewing the DLC to see if it's actually listed as added to your account and that there's a checkmark next to Installed.
