Me and my friend would like to play this game as co-op but can't find the option.
Is it possible to play it through a local network using Hamachi or such software? Or do we need to play from the same computer?

No, need to use same computer. You find the option in the artes menu.

Oh that's quite annoying, when we first pre-purchased it was mentionned online co-op, when it switched to local co-op we still hoped local network would do it.

All Mothership Titles of the Tales games are local co-op. The original PS3 version was local co-op, so making it online for PC only would be out of the question.
