I've also finished Synphonia HD but I don't really get all the hype behind it, probably generated by nostalgia. Don't get me wrong, it is a good game, but some of the "plot twists" seemed kind of predictable to me when I was playing.
Xillia 2 I didn't play through the end, cause I didn't like the the quests, the story, the money block, the quests, the mute main character (I know you see his dialogue/voice after you finish the first time, but I really don't see the point in that. It's so random that it kind of piss me off) and the battle (Yeah, I know, some people think it was the best battlesystem ever, but I just didn't like it that much)
But those who played until the end really enjoyed. Maybe the game gets better as the story develops... I don't know...
P.S. I've been a Tales of fan since Destiny was released on ps1 and have beaten all of the games released in the states, this game was awefull and I never felt bad about droping it.
Xillia 2 on the other hand was a brilliant sequel, but saying that there are certainly better Tales games out there. The characters are actually interesting now. The battle system was improved, especially if you played as Ludger who can change weapon types during battle, that was inredibly fun. The story it a bit better but nothing too amazing, though the ending got me in the feels. Overall, I loved it.
So if you want to try it, go ahead but just don't expect it to be too amazing. I personally would play Xillia just so I could get to the sequel.
I like Xillia better... But I see your point with Jude hahahaha...
If anything, in terms of which games you'll like/dislike, the responses in this thread should convince you to not rely on the opinions of others and instead form your own. Some are claiming both Xillia and Xillia 2 are awful, but some are instead stating they're both fantastic. Some are suggesting Xillia stinks while inisisting Xillia 2 is one of the best Tales games available. Yet others say Xillia is a wonderful game while condemning Xillia 2 as trash.
Who are you supposed to believe? Heck, many on these forums think Symphonia is the best thing since sliced bread. And yet I find the dialogue in that game to be far too childish for my tastes. Ultimately, you're just going to have to watch some gameplay videos for Xillia/Xillia 2, and (if they interest you) try the game out yourself.
Oh yeah?! Well... I'm right and you're wrong!
And you is dumb!
I was looking for the reason why I didn't like Symphonia that much... "Childish"! That's the term... Thank you!
compared to innocence and graces Symphonia is more mature. Although miles below Abyss or Vesperia
Hahahah, sorry...
I even agree with you that Xillia is much better than Xillia 2... It just made me laugh the way you said it... Like: "I hold the final and undiscussable truth" Hahahah
But I still agree with you...
Didn't play innocence yet, but yeah... The problem with Graces is that it's too melodramatic...
