I can't seem to get combo martial artes right, help please
Hello!

I've been playing this game for a good while at this point (mostly because playing super slowly) and got to the point when I really try to use proper attack / element types against enemies. And no matter how hard I try to pull of Sword Flare, or Freezing Strike, I have extremely low success rate.

As my understanding goes, martial artes are organized in 4 columns, for a 4-hit combo. By using the proper combination of B button and the left stick, I can choose which attack I use from each column, there are no pre-requirements like having to use the attacks from the same row. Am I correct?

if I am, then I'm almost sure something is off with my timing. I have no idea why it is so hard to do a B+right attack for Sword Flare, but I literally have the success rate around 2% or something. It's ridiculous. Am I too slow; is my controller cockeyed that it usually does the standard combo; why am I randomly sidestepping without even touching the X button (dodge battle actions are all disabled) ?
Any ideas?

It's getting super annoying by this point. The combat system is incredibly complex and daunting compared to how the guide is delivered in postnote-fragments through dozens of hours of gameplay, but I just can't seem to be able to really test them (I would appreciate a training dummy)

Thanks for your help in advance!

Ok, I understand your problem. You do not need to time your buttons at the right moment.

Instead, you HOLD the L-stick direction BEFOREHAND, and just spam the attack button. And if you want to switch to a different row, just change your direction BEFOREHAND while the current attack is still in animation, and continue to spam the attack button.

Also, there are two ways to side-step actually. One way is to Hold Defend + Left-stick. Another way is just double tap Left-stick in the same direction.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it out with that in mind. Meanwhile I set the input time between combos long, I had some success with that :clementineelf:

Just follow my advice, and I recommend to set the input lag short. It should work well. :NorminOrange:
