When using this Battle Action during an enemy hi-ougi, can I just mash the Guard button to get the damage reduction? Or do I actually have to time each hit to get the benefit?

Just hit the defend button at the moment just before the mystic arte starts. So, the timing must be precise.

So I just have to hit it once during their cut-in? If so, sounds much easier than accouting for each hit.

I've encountered two bosses so far that used hi-ougis and they were both instant-KOs. Hopefully this will help.

Yeah. Just hit it once. I think you have to hit the button slightly just before the cut-in appears.

Thanks, good to know that I was using it incorrectly. If you don't mind me asking, is there some kind of audio or visual cue see if it's done right? Or is not being KO'd good enough?
