Best way to level up for 50+ and 100 + ?
So I only plan to grind to level 160 and then use the 40 free levels to max out.
But things have slowed to a crawl at level 50 and I'm only getting 150 - 250 exp.
What is a reasonable way/place to grind EXP mid/late game.

To give you an idea of where I'm at, I'm currently seeking out the iris gems before talking to mayvan.

I also need to find the Gold Key cause I think one of the iris gems is in a gold chest in one of the ruins. (a purple star leads me there but there's no purple star on the map itself)

How much is your level now? Are you in NG+? Reaching LV 160 is almost impossible in first playthrough, if you don't have the Adventure pack DLC (comes with x2 EXP & x3 EXP boosters). Otherwise, you may also get those boosters from NewGame+ for free but you will need to farm enough grade points to buy those boosts.

I have the Adventure pack, though I've only claimed the 2X EXP boosters. Might claim the x 3 exp booster too.
My levels right now are 52 for almost everyone and 51 for Mikleo.

Claim the 3x experience booster and go find all the field bosses. I haven't paid attention if you can get more than 1 level but you definitely level up after each fight*.

After level ~90 farm chests, if you don't fight field mobs you'll encounter frequently a giant rock monster (I'm bad with names) which gives 1 level per fight but you have to make sure it doesn't escape. That works until level ~117 and that's where I am right now.

I haven't really farmed for experience but gear or better yet skills in that gear, I'm not sure for how long but I get bored quickly doing that and move on with the story.

* I fought most of them as soon as I could.

You should claim the x3 EXP as well because you can turn them on/off in the battle action menu anyways. They also stack, so having both x2 & x3 will result in x6 exp gain. Just fight mutant hellions to level up since they are all bosses, and boss drops a lot of exp. However, if the boss is way too underleveled compared to you, the exp gain will not be much. You can farm monsters in the final dungeon later as well.

Another way to farm EXP is to beat the final boss first, then load back the same file, and a new portal will be unlocked in the final dungeon, which brings you to a bonus dungeon. The monsters there are stronger than the final dungeon, so they give more EXP.

And like Hodman said, reopen those chests after they reset may result in encountering a chest golem. Those also drop a lot of EXP.

What's a reasonable level to be when confronting the final boss?
I saw in a topic somewhere people were having trouble with him at level 81

In my first playthrough I did it at level ~101 (in normal difficulty).

Around Level 80 is usually enough if you are only facing him at Normal difficulty. If on Easy difficulty, something like Lv 65 is usually the minimum. You may choose to rechallenge him after beating the game, by loading back the same save file without starting NewGame+.

Just a sidenote. If you plan to get the achievement of defeating final boss on Chaos difficulty, DO NOT CLEAR the ex dungeon (Hexen Isle). Because if you completely clear the ex dungeon, final boss will get a very huge powerup which makes him very hard to fight against even on Easy difficulty. Or else you will need to start NG+ and redo everything again.

Apparently there's some part where I need to stun him to do damage to avoid an attack?
I'm guessing it's his sacred art/mystic art that he pulls out of his ass at low health.
Any chance of just you know, surviving it?

When he's armatized? You need to damage him, if you do enough he won't attack (it's in a timer), this process repeats 3 more times, 1 for each seraphim.

I'm guessing the item that stops the enemy for five seconds wouldn't do jack about that?

I haven't used it against bosses... Actually I think I haven't used it at all :episweat:. The description says it doesn't work on enemies 20 levels higher and he is 103 on hard.
