Can I watch the anime instead?

Not trying to stomp on people that like the game, I'm glad you do. I just finished Berseria and would like to know what happens next. But here's the thing, I did not like the gameplay in Berseria, in fact the only reason I finished it was because of the story. So, is it enough to watch the anime to get the story of Zesteria?

Or is it like Danganronpa where you have to play both the games and watch the anime?

The anime is pretty solid in the first season, but it has gone downhill in season 2. The pacing is slow as f***, then everything are rushed in the end and makes not much sense. A few characters are heavily developed while the rest of the side characters felt like they are just there... The anime in general is pretty bad when compared to the game.
The anime tried too hard fanservicing, going into he happy ending route but backfired overall. It also contained a lot lesser action scenes.

Despite all that, I still enjoy some character development especially regarding Alisha, Rose and Dezel. Their background are explained in a much detailed manner than in the game. And at least, the graphics are very beautiful. If you want to watch it, watch it after finishing the game.

Game is much better and it is more well rounded. The story although is linear, but is more interesting and makes much more sense. It connects with Berseria in a more relatable way. For example, you are able to connect the locations between the games by looking at the similarities. The anime skipped a lot of things. There are lot of great OST in the game but the anime skipped a lot of them (even better than Berseria)
