What to do when you are beyond survival.
Greetings,

I think most of you have met the same problem... once you have build your cabin, smoked and dryed enough food for months, you have your reserve clothes and all the weapons you can stash...

What to do next?
- Hunt for more, so you can trade everything for masterwork tools and weapons? Ok.
- Explore the world?

Most of us will try to raid enemy camps...and mostly that will mean the end of your character.

I have problem finding new challenges after I've set up base and provided myself with plenty of food, clothes and weapons. Don't get me wrong it has allready given me MANY of hours of fun gameplay to achieve this... but still, the game somewhat loses appeal after that.

If anyone has any good idea of what to do next... do let me know.

EVE Online has the same problem. That wall of "What do I do now?"

I agree that there is a point (in most sandboxes) where the character has mastered his environment. One option is to set that character aside and try a new start, with a new character, maybe a little weaker than the previous. Or a harder start.

Or set large goals: exploring the entire world; killing 100 wolves; getting 10 skills to 100; or wiping out the Njerpez villages. These days I play URW as a long-term life simulator, keeping characters alive for game-years.

Start larger building projects. Invite others to live with you. Go on long hunting expeditions . Make sure you can survive multiple winters ahead of time. Go to a new map. I've had a character survive comfortably for 4 years at his homestead only to get a sick and die from a sniffle because I was cocky. Next Goal : Don't get sick... EVER.

Eventually you will be able to marry NPCs and have children who will carry on after you die, and you will play as them. Could you imagine? Little Jonny cutting up dad's corpse to feed to his mother in the harsh winter? And youre playing as little Jonny. And it took daddy so long to get all that gear..

Is this true? they actually going to be adding this?

Several versions ago (v2.6? 2.8?) you could woo and marry a maiden from a village, and she'd move to your camp. That was removed, I think when villages were revised, we got new rules for companions, and we got female characters. But being able to marry, have children, and continue the game as one of your children is on their long-term want to do list.

I call this the Empire building point. You and others mentioned several ways to extend.. or not, the life of a fortunate survivor. I decided I didn't need more piles of stuff that "I'll trade in town sometime". The modding environment provided me with some answers and many more questions. I've made a few "Job" mods which are to emulate actually taking up a trade beyond survival. I have released some of these both here and on the game forum.

In UnReal World v3.30, at a glance all that is now very achievable.

One popular mod for players looking for an extra challenge is the Shaman mod. Check it out, if you like. It requires lots and lots of things to do in-game.

Is there a mod that allows you to rear strong sons to fight and hunt or fertile daughters for arranging marriages?

Check out the Do it Yourself Mods: http://unrealworld.wikia.com/wiki/Do_it_yourself_mods

There's a pottery one on that list, might provide some inspiration!
