Am i wasting my time with bird skins?
So i'm getting a steady supply of birds in my field of traps, wich i skin and butcher.
I started treating the skins, cleaning, curing etc. but now it seems i can't make anything out of them leather wise at least. Am i better of trading them away since i need other types of skins for leather working or is there something i can make that i am over looking?

I don't know what it is you must be missing, but they can be used for crafting, though the skin of one bird is not enough for almost anything by itself. All "leather" clothing items and leather skins for holding liquids should be possible. I've been doing that myself in the current version without issues, like always.

I'm not sure how much they are worth to trade, but since you get hideworking experience from working the skins, it should be good practice if nothing else.
Yeah small animal skins are much more valuable to you as currency rather than crafting material. Trade them in for more valuable items until you get what you want. No point crafting with bird and squirrel skins unless its life or death.
I'm of the school of thought that they are worth it. They are not a large time investment to make and can be used (with others) in crafting. More importantly, it exercises the hidemaking skill. I find any training to be invaluable.

I use them for crafting... mostly cords and little stuff.

That being said, they are not important. If you have an overfilled day and something needs to be cut, then cut this task. It is unlikely that this is the case, though.

Bird carcasses are also good to use for baiting larger traps. :)
Don't cure the skin, it's for preservation and tan them later. You must clean, and tan them 3 times for get a bird leather.
Use feathers for crafting arrows
Since they prepare fast, they are good for skill
Do not stop trapping birds until your hideworking skill is sufficient for gaining satisfactory skins. Birds are low-risk opportunities for skill advancement. Otherwise you will turn years worth of reindeer and elk skins into ragged products. Bird meat is great for smaller trap bait or sacrifices, and the leather can be made into cords for preserving. I do like to keep a goshawk leather hat or belt, or raven. I am still hoping to one day have some snake skin boots :)
I made a leather harness from bird leathers, well really lots of bird leathers to get this done :D

Really good to skill your leatherworking.
