Live in village, Sure no problem, just squat in one of their structures, cook in their fireplace. Build anything in town, Nope. Harvest anything in town, Nope. Work in village, some villagers may have quests/jobs that need doing.

i've built a house just a few steps outside the village limits, they didnt seem to mind... i guess thats not quite the same as actually being IN the village though..

I got a quest to gather stones for a building project in a town. That done, https://imgur.com/a/MJptqcb

I now have to choose a reward worth 5 squirrel furs worth of trade. How is one supposed to know how much that is? I pick up a sickle to trade, then is told my reward is only worth a 3rd of the sickle's value.

isnt there some value-chart somewhere for all items when it comes to trading? Have now offered 40 roasted stag-cuts + my 'reward of 5 squirrel-furs worth value' and I'm still not able to buy a single sickle.

Equipment is expensive. Squirrels are tiny things, not that valuable. Perhaps just take some dried meat cuts and move on.

This chart may be helpful...

The games barter system usually treats any kind of tool or equipment (axes, knives, pots, etc) as being way more expensive than, say, harvastable things like meats and such. This is probably realistically a good reflection of how goods that required artisinal skills to make took time, where as without standard currency probably food and furs would be more common in trade but not as valuable because.

It's also because they are or contain metal.

I've run a character who lived in a village. I didn't get any special privileges as far as harvesting or anything like that, but my relations got really high with that village. I treated my character as a hunter and went out bringing meat back and delivering it to my neighbours. Eventually I was smoking meat and handing that out. I did seem to get a lot of quests from this one particular village, though I still am unsure whether this was more than what I would have gotten spread across other villages.

Still it was fun.

I built a longhouse in the village, 5x12 (3x10 interior) with beds lining the walls. The whole village started sleeping in it.

Would be cool to see more on the relations between individuals and villages. I think I recall reading that we one day soon may be able to get married and have kids. I'd really like to see my character's life progress as the years go by, not just repeat like as if all that's going on is his homestead's getting nicer.

You were able to build within the village territory? Is that something they changed? Last time I played, you couldn't build anything your own, apart from fences.

Sorry for reviving old thread, I realise I never said thanks here. The info helped. I moved past this. Thanks.
