Firewood... why?
I read in forums that firewood is the most efficient for lighting your fire, but I don't understand why... A single block of wood keeps it burning for a few hours, while firewood seems to last a lot less... Am I missing something?

Well I just did the experiment, set a pile of 23 firewood and 1 block on fire at the same time, they both lasted the same. I always chop firewood when there's nothing else to do, but now IDK why.

The only thing I can think of is that with firewood you can fine-tune the duration of the fire... I mean, if for example I want to roast some breams I just need an half-an-hour fire, so with firewood I can get precisely that saving some fuel... but it doesn't seems enough for me to justify the time spent. If I have some time I prefer to craft javelins or mugs.

Technically, you don't even need the fire to last the entire cooking time, it only has to be lit when you give the cook command. At least in the current iteration of the game, the cooking will continue even if the fire burns out, just like if you start to dry meat it will finish the job even if the temperature rises while it is in process.

So you really can roast a trout with a fire made just with 3 branches?

Yes.

a block can make 1 fire, firewood can make from 20~25 fires
It mostly comes in when you get a fireplace in a house, which requires firewood to work and technically can last a lot longer between burns as even afte the fire "Burns out" it still counts as a lit fire for a few hours I believe.

That's pretty much the only time I cut firewood too; I have a pile of firewood two squares away from my fireplace so I can push a piece in when needed (smoking meat). Otherwise, I just use a handful of branches cut from a tree or sapling for everything.

Yep totally forgot cooking continues after the fire is out.

My easiest stratigy is to strip twigs and from a tree and pile them, and throw them onto spare things of wood, generally boards or small trees, becuase I am building a cabin (I was building the wall with shutter, and was positioned right, but i built rong so now there is no corner. I am seriously mad, and I cannot eneter near by villages becase of the... incedent...)

You can deconstruct and rebuild cabin parts.

The problem with wall with shutters is only a visual glitch, keep building your cabin and once you place floors and ceilings the wall with shutters will correcly turn itself.

Yes, same with doors. It may look "wrong" while in progress, but the finished item should orient properly.

ok. I fixed this. I am going to just put it on the side mid way point where it is on village houses are. I really dont need to be looking at the river, just at were my normmal camp is with the cellar and raft.
