Unable to launch game

I downloaded Arkham Asylum today and tried to launch the game but haven't been unable to. Firstly, I get a warning message marked "Microsoft.NET Framework" that says, "unhandled exception has occurred in your application". When I try to continue anyway the launcher appears but with black bars over where the text is supposed to be (presumably for "play" or "settings" and the other options you're supposed to see on the launcher). Finally, when I click on the uppermost black line (where I presume the "play" key is meant to be), the game briefly whirs and tries to boot up, before giving me a message saying, "General Protection Fault! history: QA_APPROVED_BUILD_OCTOBER_2008 198404". I've been trying to fix this for hours and, as a total layman when it comes to programming or computers, I've done my best to follow the advice others have given on similar threads but have had no success thus far. Can anyone help me out?

Ive had so many issues with my PC & games, current issue is games that suddenly worked just fine now cause instant PC shutdowns, one of the games I can replicate the shutdown at the exact spot in said game every time. Along with this, Batman here along with Arkham city would fire up but then give me a wall of text and go back to the decsktop. I recently reinstalled both and now they are working just fine, Phys X is disabled as I am running an amd card, only thing I can figure is a driver update now makes these 2 playable? One thing I did with another problem child, Bendy & the Ink machine, was run a driver cleaner program, which did in fact detect leftover bits of Nvidia drivers from the old card which had died. Once I had it remove those, Bendy plays just fine.

Did you run the installer in your Redist folder?
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ DirectX \ DXSETUP

The game wasn't launching for me but this guy's tutorial resolved my issue. Not sure if it'll work on all PCs or just the Steam Deck, but maybe worth a shot? Proton-GE. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2774508225
