Wuthering Waves

Wuthering Waves

How bad is P2W and FOMO?
I really enjoyed Genshin Impact and yes, even Tower of Fantasy (until the big powercreep) but they both had too many p2w and FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) features. I got stressed trying to do everything, every day, every week etc.

Can I play this game "chill mode" too and not pull every character lets say, what if I pull NO character at all will I be able to play the game too without problems and artifical challenges (to make you pay for a character)?

You can play literally everything with the free characters as a non paying player.
What do you consider yourself "win" in a basically singleplayer game?
If you fell in love with any character and/or it's design you could get some kind of fomo.
Danjin mains clear almost everything with solo Danjin and she's a 4 star.

Jiyan's day 1 team of himself, Mortefi and Verina is still one of the strongest teams on the game, and it's been a year since that team came out.

Havoc Rover is a really strong DPS.

So yea, you're fine, no need to pull everyone.
It uses all the same tricks that Genshin and other gachas does, it just comes with the territory. Its just less egregious, fair bit more f2p friendly than say Genshin tho.

Like all gachas, P2W and FOMO in this game is BIG.

It's just up to you if you are ok with that.

I'd play this game again if i could just straight up buy the characters and weapons directly from the store, since RNG ALWAYS cucks me in those casino-ass pulls and just leads me to frustration instead of fun.

1. It is not Pay2Win not Genshin, not WuWa etc. why? because you can't win anything because it's a freaking singleplayer game.

2. And you can do everything 100 % for free without pulling any character and even besides that why should you not pull? You get so much stuff for free so just use that and don't pay for it.

The only thing you have to do is invest a lot of time to farm stuff and you can do everything without any issues. Sure it's nearly impossible to get a 100 % perfect character build without paying but you can get enough stuff easily that is just a few % weaker.

and well there isn't really any big FOMO because you can't miss out of anything that is actual important. Sure you miss events but there are events and not meant forever and yes characters are time limited but they always come back so also no actual FOMO.

Fomo depends from person to person same with "p2w" if you're trying to get every character and you get unlucky it will get pretty p2w

This. playing a gacha while lacking characters is barely a gaming experience on my eyes, would rather play a complete game instead.

Bro it's a gacha, every gacha works on FOMO. If you are F2P every piece of premium currency you get should be planned.

Don't forget it a gacha game. For example my luck in genshin was 93% that (yes i recorded all my pulls during all the time) : i lose 50/50 and i will need twice 75-80 pulls to get 5 star character (150-160 pulls to get new character from banner). I nearly never win 50/50 during the all time i played and i was alayws buying moon+ battle pass. Thats why i quited after some streamer on youtube showed his fully f2p account which he clamed was very unlucky - and it was the same as mine p2w . In wuwa i just only once win 50/50 in the start but often get early 5 stars. So mostly it's just luck and a lot of people can play it f2p.

not p2w but heavily relies on fomo

To come back to it i think as with most things in life it's important to be mindful "do i really need this? Is it worth it?" etc.

Honestly, with how effective 5-star weapons are in this game, I think you're gonna have a hard time clearing challenges without AT LEAST pulling for the standard ones (no expiration so no fomo).

If you're planning to not pull anything at all no matter how much free shít they give you enough to actually get a 5-star weapon, don't expect to 100% the time-sensitive end game modes.

Honestly, you can play without pulling for characters, given that the game will you give a free characters. They could help you clear help the Tower Adversity, exploring, and their materials are available without unlocking some of the regions.

Make sure to level up to unlock more rewards. There is a free five star regular weapons selector when you reach level 45. There is also free four star weapon selector. What else? Some of the events are short and long, so you don't need to burn yourself out. You can speed run some of the events. Basically, you can go with your flow.

As for the story, it can get slightly feel boring at the start, but as you progress, it sticks with you. There is also a skip button, but it is best not to do it in the main story. In that way, you could see how good it is.

Burning out and fear of missing out are inevitable, which is why you have to find a way to actually make you find the game interesting from characters, scenery, or anything at all. You can also take a break, no matter how long it was. Yes, you could miss events, rewards, and such, but your mental health will always be your top priority.

Lastly, is the game pay to win? I do not think so. It becomes P2W if you care so much about the meta characters, you have a gambling habit, you are building pity on the banner who you don't want any character in it, and you are simply impatient.

Advice: Focus on the banner duration. Invest whom you think it is worth of your time.
