I managed to work around it by positioning Lara between the third and fourth set of spikes from the right of the first row and jump into the spikes. I could land on them without dying, From there it was easy to get the power up.
After beating the challenge room it works fine btw. :D
Set the spikes up so that the middle tile isn't surrounded by spikes. You will then use a spear on the wall to jump over the first set of spikes and then walk to the center. However, you don't want to throw the spear from ground level because you won't be able to make the jump. Go to the stairs and try to go up a few steps but not far enough that you get taken out of the room. The stairs will give your spear a bit more elevation to make it over the first row of spikes. Throw the spear to the other side of the room and then jump across one set of spikes.
I was running it at 144 Hz first and would encounter this same bug with the spikes all up every time. Some old-ass games just break in weird ways when you run them at higher refresh rates than they were originally built and tested for.
I connected my controller and started a co-op game. I positioned Totec as close as possible to the spikes and had Lara jump off his shield over the 1st row of spikes.
Thanks!!
