My intention with 1.3.0 is to give players more ways to express themselves.
That’s really the core idea behind this update: making Gambo more expressive and more accessible, while giving players more room to experiment and create wild synergies!

Here is what you can expect from it:

• Minor improvements thanks to your feedbacks

• \[FIX] Tal the Cursed power do not prevent to earn the No tiles achievement

• \[FIX] Pressing very very very quickly the hit button on the piece wheel won’t hide the UI anymore

• \[FIX] 9 King achievement will only trigger with 9 kings on board and not 9+

• \[FIX] Makibishi’s Gambit won’t be considered used if a non-knight piece capture

• \[FIX] Mercenary’s Gambit was protecting king’s every turn under certain condition

• \[FIX] Princess description has been updated in every languages

• \[FIX] Copycat Gambit could be stuck in the middle of the screen after being chose in the Gachapon

• \[FIX] Eugenic Gambit can only grants PAWN, ROOK, KNIGHT, BISHOP, QUEEN or KING Gambit (UTILITY gambits cannot be granted anymore)

Stalemate revamp. The stalemate count is now reset after winning a boss fight.

Gambit removed from the Game :

• Remove the Shield’s Gambit, looks too much like the Bubble Shield’s Gambit.

• Remove Trojan’s Gambit, looks too much like the Jockey’s Gambit

Gambits added to the game :

• Add Missigno’s Gambit : Selling this Gambit turns all your pieces into random pieces.(Gambit made by the community).

• Graal’s Gambit : Creates a BLESSING TILE on a non modified tile after receiving a Gambit.

  Chances goes from 1/1 to 1/3

Gambit buffs:

• Bunker’s Gambit :
  PROTECTING a piece during Crumble Mode gives +$3. ⇒ PROTECTING a piece gives +$1.

• Whip’s Gambit:
  Chances goes from 1/2 to 1/1

• Chamberlain’s Gambit:
  Chances goes from 1/2 to 1/1

• Dead or Alive’s Gambit:
  Chances goes from 1/3 to 1/1

• Show Jumping’s Gambit:
  Chances goes from 1/2 to 1/1

• Pendant’s Gambit:
  Chances goes from 1/2 to 1/1

• Creature of the Depths' Gambit:
  Earn +$2 when a piece falls from the board. ⇒
  Earn +$4 when a piece falls from the board.

• Winter’s King’s Gambit:
  Chances goes from 1/2 to 1/1

• Gold Seeker’s Gambit:
  Capturing with a GOLDEN PIECE grants +$1. ⇒ Capturing with a GOLDEN PIECE grants +$2.

  Chances goes from 1/3 to 1/1

  Chances goes from 1/3 to 1/1

• Musketeer’s Gambit:

- Barter’s Gambit : Selling a BISHOP grants another random piece.(5 times, reset when entering the Shop).

- King XI's Gambit: Chances goes from 1/3 to 1/2

Gambit Revamp:

• Reincarnation’s Gambit:
  When you should get a BISHOP, get another random piece instead.

• Balance Scale's Gambit:
  Selling a ROOK grants a KNIGHT, selling a BISHOP grants a KING.

• Chrysalis’ Gambit:
  WAITING has a 1/3 chance to grant a random piece.

• Plague Mask’s Gambit:
  Sold pieces also COUNT AS BISHOPS.

• Jockey’s Gambit:
  When one of your KNIGHTS is captured, grants a random chess pieces.

• Goddess’ Gambit:
  Your QUEENS can move like KNIGTHS

This might come as a surprise to some. Why did we take time to focus on something as basic as the tutorial? Well, here is the answer: Many of you amazing and smart Gambo-fans are also chess players ♟️, which makes sense! After all, Gambonanza uses chess elements and remixes them in a way to introduce something fresh and unique.

A formula proven by you ever since we first ran a public playtest. Turns out, some players left negative feedback after discovering that our game is not a hardcore Stockfish-like chess simulator. 😭 It really isn't! Gambo likes to be a bit crazy, chaotic, creative, and in general doesn't take itself too seriously.

That's why the tutorial now better explains that Gambonanza is NOT chess and emphasizes things such as Gambit synergy and experimentation instead. 💥

This patch mainly focuses on bug fixing, localization improvements, balance adjustments and a first batch of quality of life features based on your feedback!

• Added the “ADJACENT” keyword to several Gambits to avoid confusion and improve readability

• Buffed several KNIGHT + PAWN synergies to make the archetype more viable and explosive

• Buffed Blessed Tile related Gambits, as those strategies were heavily underused

• Nerfed Lich’s Gambit, which was overperforming a bit too hard while still trying to preserve its fun factor

• \[FIX] Mighty Kasparov skip turn ability is reset after a PAT

• \[FIX] When Phantom piece vanish, if the board only contains Phantom pieces, the game will now prioritize keeping a Phantom piece from the board as the last remaining piece instead of selecting a random piece (sometime in the stock).

Lich’s Gambit

• Rarity changed from RARE → EPIC

• Price changed from $6 → $9

• Will no longer create a piece if the board is already full.

• Pendant Gambit chance increased from 1/4 → 1/2

• Foal’s Gambit chance increased from 1/4 → 1/2

• Miracle’s Gambit chance increased from 1/3 → 1/2

• Key of Life’s Gambit chance increased from 1/4 → 1/2

• Carroussel’s Gambit chance increased from 1/3 → 1/2

• Caterpillar’s Gambit chance increased from 1/4 → 1/3

• Trampoline’s Gambit chance increased from 1/4 → 1/2

• Trampoline’s Gambit rarity changed from RARE → EPIC

• On PAWN difficulty, Interest is now:1$ every 5$ (max 5$) instead of 1$ every 10$ (max 5$)

• Kev Bortclick can no longer spawn with an INVOKER modifier

• \[FIX] Chaos Mode can now trigger correctly even if only ONE piece has a legal move

• Localized the Strain Unlock “NEXT” button

The journey continues with update 1.3.0. I'll keep working through community-reported bugs, fine-tuning Gambit balance, and improving the Stalemate mechanic.

The Trojan Gambit will be replaced by a community-created Gambit, and the Shield Gambit will make way for something more distinct from Bubble Shield.
