Disclaimer: I'm aware the game is short and from a small studio. Won't use video this time or shots to avoid spoiler.


Sometimes I think when certain luckies finally gets the chance to produce a game, its used as a escape goat for something else. Though its more honest than the big studios---but after they consume classic media, I guess the end result is the remains of that; these type of games. (Not saying it is, but might). I often say in reviews that this kinda of thing makes gaming looking like a creative dump, rather than a source of such.


1- There is no continue/checkpoint if you leave. If you can't continue by any chance, its back from zero all over again. Same for language choice menu, won't save last pick.

Example; I had a bug where a door closes, and a thing was supposed to vanish. The door never opened again and I had to restart.

2- Instability with graphics might force rebooting. Rather than fixing it, they left notes like "it might crash" if you pick a language for example.

Example; During gameplay the game started to stutter for no reason. Rebooting to fix it made me lose progress.

3- Predictable. It relies over script triggers and context commands. "Player steps here, activate it, repeat it."

4- Character walks VERY slowly---when running with shift, gets tired real fast. Rather than immersive this is just annoying.

5- Uninteresting background plot, no motivation given to explore or to find, other than "Ethan journalist" and "big mansion lots killed."

6- Cheap jump scare is everywhere. It is so bad even the game admits it when loading. Can't scare you? So I'll throw flying xit at your face.


7- Another main character named Ethan. Sigmund Freud might explain this xit because I don't know where that comes from.

8- I thought REC was from that Spanish movie's universe, that was later indiscriminately copied by Hollywood goons as "Quarantine." Well, it is not.

9- Unintuitive puzzles are just a guess-what, absolutely not fun.

10- Walking around with a camera is a category or/of genre, but in games it won't always work.

Why's that: Can't really pretend what you're seeing is "lost footage" in gaming anyway, because you're the active player. The illusion won't work the same in my opinion. Outlast did it a little more interestingly, since the camera is a survival tool used to see at dark. In Rec, it is permanent, mandatory to use it all the time = it might get tiresome real fast.

11- Level design is very limited, often predictable. Though visually looks okay, I had no interest to find anything new not even these weird puzzles.

12- Immersion breaking objectives keeps popping on screen because the game won't flow naturally without it.

Example; I gave up playing when another objective popped up: "escape to the car!" and like 69% of the owners of this game, I failed to follow this simple instruction---because the game commands you around rather than actually make you see what's going on, then make you react to it yourself.

Amnesia series and Monstrum shows how small studios can pull new good stuff off, yet totally originally and really scary. If you can sustain all the topics from above, you can have a somewhat okay creepy night, if that's what you're looking forward to? I wonder.


1- Music is ambient horror, but loops constantly.

2- The exterior and some models looks good for a small studio.

3- Camera can also help to unsettle things up.

4- Sinister moments are usually silly to me, but I'd say its more mature and smart than jump-scares.


Making horror is particularly hard because a lot of stuff has already being invented, so whenever horror shows up, it will only stand out if its stepping in somewhere new. That doesn't mean you can't try it out and have some fun, maybe you'll enjoy it, but I had to tolerate it till I got bored. Won't even refund it because it was like 9 bucks and I feel bad doing so.
