Lock picking

I am stuck trying to pick the lock at the manor house. I understand that I need to select lockpick # 2 by selecting it with my mouse wheel...but I can't get it do this. Nothing happens when I scroll and push on the mouse wheel. Anyone else having this trouble or am I doing something wrong?

did you press left shift to select a second one? cause just scrolling will only let you pick one lock pick at a time

Yes but it wouldn't let me select a 2nd one.

Perhaps, you should try to select the lockpick by pressing the left mouse button, not the mouse wheel? And, of course, at first you should deselect the previous lockpick by pressing the right mouse button.
