Player progression?
Just curious as to what form player progression will take.

Will it be weapon/utility/armor unlocks and upgrades?

Will there be similar unlocks for your 'ship'?

Progression can be hard to balance in a PvP scenario. Players want some type of reward for their effort, but those rewards cannot be so powerful as to upset the balance of PvP.

Or is this mainly a 'Sea of Thieves' approach where its all about earning cosmetics?

Any information would be appreciated.

+1 does this game have longterm player progression and what does it look like. It’s a make it work break it thing and i want to have some rewards to incentivize playing it again and again.

The Sea of Thieves approach is the only one viable. Can't have permanent upgrades in a pvp game and then matchmaking put players with and without upgrades in the same lobby, it would be an unbalanced mess and not fun.
@Dagan There is a way, but many people do not like it at all and that would be using some sort of ranked system.

However, the cleanest and probably easiest way is as you describe, just cosmetics.

Based just off the screenshots, it looks like ship upgrades (a ship core with +30 health and healing over time) and weapons (a turret that launches explosive sticky gel) are actually found in the procedural generated map; maybe just by reaching them first or as rewards for completing objectives in the match. So I don't think that really leaves room for earning them by player progression.
