Hey Prospectors!

Our next patch arrives July 16th. It’s nearly a year since Wildgate launched, so it’s time for our 1st Anniversary in-game, with returning events, cosmetics, a community event, and more!
In this patch, we’re making some updates to game mode selection and queue visibility. Custom games, perks, and balance changes will receive changes to get Wildgate in the best possible place for you to get your parties started.

Here’s a preview of what’s to come in Patch 1.5.4.

🌟Patch Highlights 🌟

• 🎇1st Anniversary Celebration - some Anniversary goodies to thank you all!

• 👥Queueing and Mode Selection - UI Improvements - Player queue numbers and active custom games will be made visible to help you decide where and when to hop into the Reach.

• 🎮Game Mode Updates - Treasure Hunt now has Stowaways - would you take an enemy onboard for a potential treasure bonus?

• 🎁Perk Updates and Balance Changes - various perks are getting a pass, with some heroes and weapons also getting balance changes.

To kick off our 1st Anniversary Celebrations,  we’ll be awarding two sprays and a title for everyone! We had a lot of fun naming these sprays…you’ll have to take a look in-game to see what we landed on 😈
Keep an eye out for a community challenge that’ll be announced next week, along with some tournament action too!

To help you get into games and choose what you want to queue for, we’ve revamped the UI look and path for how you pick game modes and queues.

• Player counts for game modes/matchmaking queues will be made visible.

• Active custom games will be listed, showing you games to potentially join.

We hope this will help you decide where and when to queue. The LFG channel in the Wildgate Discord[discord.gg] and other LFG/Custom Game communities continue to be great places to jump in if you want to team up and find matches.

Ship shattered and stuck in space? We didn’t hear no bell!
In Treasure Hunt mode, players whose ships have been destroyed are now known as Stowaways. If any Stowaway (surviving player(s) from an eliminated team) manages to board another team's ship and extract with them, both parties will receive a small bonus in Treasure/loot score.

Is it worth adopting that poor stray? Will they waste all your ammo missing those Ghost Stalkers? Prime your proxy chat, and let the negotiations begin!

PERKS AND BALANCE

Perks will now appear in the loadout UI in a set order, grouped by type. We’ve taken a pass over a few perks, giving them both new names and effects. Here’s a sneak preview of Ion’s change.
Ion Smash (Ion) - Renamed to “Cosmic Fists“

New: Ion deals 33% less melee damage to hardpoints and weapons. Blasting enemies with a melee attack now causes them to explode.

Balance-wise, Mophs and Ion will be getting some tweaks, as well as the Beam Rifle, Sidelong, Hand Cannon and Surefire.

Whether you’re a veteran prospector from before launch or have joined us recently, a massive thank you from our whole team past and present for crewing up with us. We’re proud of Wildgate and the community you’ve created around it—as you know, the game will still receive small bug fixes, balance updates, and potentially small events or rewards riffing off existing content.
