Let's get serious, here
Alright, so, are there REALLY any problems with the PC version of this game? Everyone says it crashes and it's buggy and blah blah blah, and "it's the same as the Dynasty Warriors ports, blah blah blah".

Let's face some facts here. Not everyone has those problems. DW8XLCE and DW8E? Haven't had a SINGLE problem with any of them. No bugs, no crashes, nothing. And it's not like I have a top-of-the-line computer. I'm willing to bet, at MINIMUM, 70% of the people complaining either don't have updated drivers or didn't look at system requirements.

So, what is the real issue here? I want an honest, unbiased, detailed response to this. I would also like to know if, forgetting port complications, if the PC version has anything over the console version (if only graphics). Control scheme doesn't really matter because I use a gamepad anyway.

Bladestorm: Nightmare looks like a really great game, and I've had interest in it for a while. Now, I only need to know where to buy it: Console or PC. If it really is as good of a game as I think it is, I don't want PC-only users to be deterred by childish, caps-locked reviews consisting of "BUGS AND CRASHES, $60 TOO EXPENSIVE, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥".

So, serious answers and responses, please. I'd also like to hear people's thoughts on the game, such and such, etc. I'm tired and I'm going to bed now.

Many people who have really beefy computers can't get a stable 60 fps out of this game. I've heard that even a GTX 970 or 980 won't run this game well at the highest settings. So it's a question of optimization at the moment. The game itself is really, really good, I had the original Bladestorm on Xbox 360 and I enjoyed it immensely. I don't know about the nightmare campaign, but if the original campaign has not changed, it will be good. My advice is that at least wait for a patch, or get the PS4 version. I don't think there's anything new in the pc version and the PS4 version runs more stable at the moment. But be it PS4 or PC, you should get Bladestorm: Nightmare as it is a really good game bar the technical problems.

Yeah, there's not anything new in the PC version aside from the better graphics as far as I know. If Koei patches the worst technical problems, the PC version should be good to go.

Heres the lowdown.

1. The game is badly optimized and even beefy rigs can't run the game at a stable thing. Now normally this would be your computer is a potatoe counterpoint however that doesn't really apply here. The graphic fidelity that the higher graphics options apply still shouldn't be that demanding for even a midrange computer let alone a high end setup.

My setup for example is a

8350 8 Core at 4.0ghz.
EVGA 970 superclocked
8 Gigs of DDR 3
And its installed on a decent SSD drive.

With all the graphics turned on at 1080p I get 25 fps in battle.

By turning some of the graphics off or down I get 60 fps

Its just piss poor optimization.

2. Controller support.
The games controller support is a little wonky and for me took about an hour to get my PS3 controller working with the game (had to switch it to DirectInput as Xinput wasn't working to well with the game)

Once every thing was set it work fine.

3. Graphics

The graphics in the game are still a bit dated. There fine though for what you get. Even at max graphics they don't look spectacular just slightly below average.

4. Gameplay, works perfectly. If you down the graphcis setting to get a stable fps the game runs flawlessly.

5. Crashes. Some people are reporting crashes when finishing battles and ect. These are apparently effecting some people and are repeatable. They arn't game breaking but highly annoying.

So, basically, PC version is the way to go after the game gets a few patches. In the event it gets a discounted price on either PSN or Steam, I'll buy it there immediately. Coolcool.

Serious answer: Yesterday I had a wonderful smoothly running game and was happy. Today I suffer from constant crashes and can't play anymore, so I'm unhappy with the product.

Changes from yesterday to today: None at first. Crash. Realized there were new drivers out, installed them. Still crashes.

They certainly are when you can only play the game for 5 minutes of the tutorial before it crashes.

I have an i7-4770K, GTX 780, 8Gb DDR3 and also have the game installed on an SSD. Those five minutes of gameplay are flawless on all high settings but that's ALL I can get.

yo ucan fix it(delay the crash to one hour)by not using full-screen mode, windows 7 compa and run as administrator+disable the reflection in the game config

My GTX560 gets heavily bottlenecked by the excessive graphic card memory usage. With the right settings, I still can get stable 60.

Hmmm...

So all the port/techincal issues ignored, is the game any good?

This looks something I would totally enjoy, and if it has technical problems, I'll just wait for possible patches, if the game is any good.

So I'm asking is this something to keep eye on?

Also, does it have 16:10 resolution support (1920x1200)? If I recall right, recent eastern ports I have played seem to not have that for reason or other. Eastern ports are getting better, but most devs still miss a lot of basic things PC-users expect theyr games to have.

Someone suggested that Bladestorm runs better in Windows 7, so that might also be a factor here. Anyone notice a difference? How does it run for those who use Windows 7?

Well I'm on windows 7 and I don't get any crashes so.

Well, that might be the answer then...

I've also saw that in the system Requirements that this game only supports 64-bit versions

I had a few problems with crashing but I dumbed everything down and it runs a treat that way. But it seems trying to push the game will make it crash which stinks.

I run it at a smaller resolution, all on low and on windowed with Windows 7 compatibility. It helps.

I'm playing at 2560x1440 with everything on High and V-Sync enabled easily getting 60 fps. GPU barely heats up to 45c. I'm using a GTX 980 SC ACX2.0.
