Sniper 2: Multiplayer Review
The thing I was excited about was a multiplayer FPS designed for sniping. Not the random luck "quickscope" nonsense call of duty seems to support, but actual sniping gameplay. Realism aside, the gameplay mechanics are alright. Not great, but playing the game is fun enough.

However:

As it is, the multiplayer gameplay is going down the same slide as the first Sniper: GW. People stuff away the sniper rifle, pull out the sidearm and make it a run and gun CoD rip off with pistols. You should be warned in advance that every game will have these people. No exceptions, unless you have a locked down server.

There are only two maps, which are designed relatively well. Each side looks like an inverted copy of the other, which is a shame. There also seems to be far less foliage in the resort map than in the maps from the first game. Lens glare is your cue to aim the boomstick at something.

Things i've found to be lacking:

In my opinion, there are certain aspects of the game which are unpolished.

Terrain hitmapping is not always accurate. You can clearly see the target's head stick out, but a pinpoint shot at the exposed cranium will result in a hit on the sandbags. The bullet impact will seemingly float above the bags.

In the same line of things, headglitching is quite easy. Find the highest spot, go prone, aim at people who cannot see you if they look directly at your location. Shooting you, in combination with the above will be next to impossible. There is a spot like this on both maps, and no, I won't tell you where it is.

These are my only real complaints about the multiplayer.

In the end, the game can be good fun IF people snipe. If a bunch of people go on a run about with their pistol, it gets boring really really fast. Keep this in mind if you want to get this game for multiplayer.

would be interesting to add a team play mode for a multiple teams of 2 match. Or a stalk/hunt mode. But yea there are a few more bugs to work out and sometimes a long drawn out crawling match is kinda fun. Only tried mp on a friends computer, need to work out some issues on mine .

I've played a few rounds of MP so far and they have been 99% sniping, one guy got me from crossing over but he didn't cross again after I got him back. It is like the original S:GW but definitely an improvement. The resort map is by far the best map. I'm loving it so far!

But there needs to be more options, can't wait for the new maps, even 2 additional maps is not enough. We need more! and not paid for DLC, that RUINS multiplayer more than anything.

I guess you've been luckier in your games than I :) .

Relax..it seems you don't always gain score points if you "cross" the map and kill. You still knock out the sniper on the other side so they have to relocate..but score is not counted.. well, sometimes..haven't figured the scoring out yet..lol.. it also is a mess..lol

Don't get me wrong. Itr's not a rant. Just an assesment of the situation. I don't really look at the scoring, more to the ammount of fun I get for my money :) . When everyone snipes, the game is a lot of fun.

You can't really review a game based on human behaviour though, right?

The douche bags will soon leave MP, some will pop up every now and then but they won't stick around for the long-haul.

On the contrary. Many games are defined largely by the behaviour of their community. The game can be great, but if everyone is a douchebag it won't be fun at all.
