Windows 10 issues
I used to be able to play this game fine, no problems. Haven't played in a while, then upgraded to Windows 10 and it won't work. Doesn't even open. If I try to open it right from my desktop, it just opens Steam. If I open it from Steam, nothing happens. On my husbands computer, it will say that I've signed into the game for just a moment, but goes away again.

I have googled and played around with everything I could find and understand (and my husband tried a few things since he's the better computer whiz) aaaaaand still nothing.

Does anyone have something that will help besides having to re-install Windows 7?

From what I have heard, and that isn't much, you have two choices. Wait until they patch Windows 10 or revert back. There 'seems' to be a lot of problems with 10. I tried to install it when it ws free and got nowherre plus it did not recognize ANY of my games. Eventually they will fix it. I am just too old to wait (snicker).

Having a very similar problem since changing to Win10 - game crashes immediately on start up. I have changed DX, resolution, full screen/windowed & deleted/undeleted _FastLoad. Only had 5 hours on this so a touch annoying - any help or advice would be appreciated if there is a solution/workaround...If not, back in the box it goes.

I suggest you play the game. Complete it on Windows 7. Or if it works fine in Win 8.1 try playing on it there. After you finish completing this game or any other games that don't run fine on Windows 10. Then upgrade to Windows 10.

This game is very, very short! After you complete the Single Player Campaign there really isn't much. Completing the Multiplayer achievements is also very easy. Such as winning 5 rounds in a row, or 25 Team Deathmatch rounds, 50 Head Shots, etc.

I completed all the Multiplayer achievements. So I am basically done with Multiplayer. Multiplayer component doesn't have much variety or content for it to be continued any further. Once that's done and single player will only take a few hours, you'll be done with the game. So then you can upgrade to Windows 10.
Or... if you have a slightly longer attention span you can play multiplayer for hundreds and hundreds of hours. Plenty have done it and continue to play.

I do understand that you can do that. But the Multiplayer of Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 isn't worth continuing once those Multiplayer achievements are unlocked. Simply because the maps are ordinary and very small. If you want proper Multiplayer. Battlefield 3, 4 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 are far superior to Sniper Ghost Warrior 2.

That's why there is nothing to regret about not being able to play it once you complete the Single Player Campign. Single Player is decent, Multiplayer is dull. That's my opinion on Sniper Ghost Warrior 2. Unlike in Battlefield where Single Player is decent but Multiplayer is far more awesome.

Besides that, if you already have Sniper Ghost Warrior 1 the Multiplayer focus on that game is more important. I have to unlock these 2 achievements. So far only killed 150 enemies.

Supplier of Death
Kill 2000 enemies. (Multiplayer)
150 / 2,000

Laurel Wreath
Win 50 rounds playing online. (Multiplayer)

Kill 2000 enemies and win 50 rounds is what I need to do next. Sniper Ghost Warrior 1 also has better, larger and more variety of multiplayer maps. Only the graphics is slightly dated... My opinion is that Sniper Ghost Warrior 1 beats Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 on Multiplayer. But Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 beats Sniper Ghost Warrior 1 in Single Player Campaign.

I've found this workaround for Windows 10 and for me has worked well to fix the startup bug: http://gamerentusiast.com/game-fix/sniper-ghost-warrior-2-crash-on-startup-problem-fix/.

On directx 11 it works only in 1080p 24p

see this post is 4 yrs old and still the issue. I can run it fine BUT..the AI are invisible and only parts of the weapons are visible. The foliage and buildings and what not show up fine...but it looks funny (not ha ha funny) to only see Diaz's gun running around with no Diaz, plus none of the AI show; only the markers above their heads and the weapons they're holding. Odd to say the least. It is truly now a Ghost Warrior game. Must be an older C++ Visual issue, although mine date back to 2003 and go to 2019.

I replied earlier and said I had sort of the same issue, but actually I got it working, try this. Go into registry editor and then go HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > City Interactive > Sniper Ghost Warrior 2. Then change the r_Driver from DX11 to DX9. I think it's a bug with DX11 that's causing this thing, so perhaps make sure your system.cfg file in your main SniperGhostWarrior2 folder is also set to DX9 before you try running the game again.
