Leatrix Latency Fix
"Leatrix Latency Fix is a program that changes Windows 7's networking settings to send TCP acknowledgements more frequently. Leatrix Latency Fix is often used by players of multiplayer online role-playing games such as World of Warcraft, Rift and Aion. Windows 7 and other versions of Windows delay sending some TCP response packets by default. The tweak results in Windows sending an acknowledgement packet immediately after receiving each TCP packet from game servers, reducing the latency, or delay, that players experience in online games."

should work for every game, since it modifies windows parameters

Have you any experience with it? Notable benefits?

can't really say i see a difference
this program don't reduce ping anyway, but lag spikes

the "magic" is easily explained here

Ok, it got my attention. Did a bit of research. Stumbled upon Nagle's algorithm. http://www.boundary.com/blog/2012/05/know-a-delay-nagles-algorithm-and-you/
Very interesting as well. But I am not sure if something good is going to happen if someone fiddles with it. Here is a guide to deactivate it manually: http://www.ghacks.net/2012/09/10/reduce-gaming-latency-ping-in-windows/
(In order to deactivate it you will need to install/activate MSMQ first: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730960.aspx )

I think it is possible that this may cause something positive. But it's a bit more in depth than I usually tinker with stuff, because I tend to end up in dead ends. But this is a discussion. So it is allowed that I share my thoughts, right?

The Nagle's Algorithm only works for TCP connections. Steam uses UDP.

From monitoring the network I can say that GG uses TCP for connecting matches. Altough it is steam.exe wich does the connection.

Ok, tried with mobman some matches with these tweaks. To be honest, I am not sure if there is a notable difference in connection quality. We played italy - germany and it was quite good. Nothing I would complain about. I Have had way worse experiences on PS3 with shorter distances.
And in comparison to GGPO... well I have never played a GGPO game online as far as I can tell. So try it out and let the people know if it is of any use for the community.

Tried speedtest.net and got slightly better results than usual. (latency -4ms (normally 23ms, now 19ms), +a bit more up and download speed)

After another round of resarch on disabling Nagle's Algorithm (on microsoft's technet) I found out that this is a highly controversial topic. Furthermore it seems Windows 7 users can not deactivate it easily since the simple registry entries seem to have no effect. I suggest to leave your network settings as they are and do not change anything related to Nagle's Algorithm. I will stop resarching on this topic any further.
Maybe Leatrix is of some use, but I do not expect to much of it.
