It's a somewhat different game from Xrd, really fun as well. You'll find some characters who didn't get into the new ones, and honestly they're some of the best GG characters. For 2 more days there's still a rollback beta going on, so you'll see how good the netcode can get as well.
On top of that, the tiers don't really matter in +R. The worst characters have overcome the best characters in major tournaments.
In Xrd sky is the limit, but you have a lot of simplifications like a universal "get off me" move in blitz shield, universally strong projectiles and overall easier pressure game due to projectile > YRC option, etc.
Meanwhile ACPR offers more dynamic action due to no slowdowns, making it way more possible to go bonkers. On one hand, it's easier to surprise your opponent. On the other, you have to make more split second decisions. So whenever you get the upper hand you can actually see yourself doing awesome things in this game. Like Xrd, only more so. if you like Xrd, go for ACPR if only to have a reference point on how the series changed.
If you want to have a quality online experience, +R is the way to go. Not to ♥♥♥♥ on XRD's gameplay quality or anything, but good netplay makes a huge difference.
If you like XRD mostly for messing around with offline content though, or are fortunate enough to have a lot of players in your surroundign region, then you could probably stay with XRD instead.
Do note that +R is a bit harder than XRD, due to things like tighter inputs and weirder movement shenanigans.
