however, it doesnt seem like defensive play will beat him, he recovers every tick, thats again, silly, would have been as unfair as ever yet more fair to recover on hit, as-is, you either use the ultra or learn the best combos to outdps his regen
Slayer was extremely strong all throughout the GGXX series and +R was no exception. However, he is not unbeatable, so here are some tips to beat him.
1. The AI will occassionally end its blockstrings with 2D. Slayer's 2D is not cancelable in any way other than RC (which the AI rarely uses for anything useful), so when you block that you can easily go for a free punish.
2. All of his Overdrives, when blocked leave him vulnerable for a long ammount of time. He may do Dead on Time and Eternal Wings on wakeup, sometimes.
3. Do not challenge his Dandy Step yet. The AI will bait your attacks, make them wiff and heavily punish you. When he uses Dandy Step, block high (I doubt the AI will go for a low mixup after Under Pressure) and punish accordingly. Pilebunker (P followup) and Crosswise Heel (K) can be easily punished, but his S and HS followups are harder to do so.
4. Slayer has a taller than average hitbox, so you may be able to find combos that work only on him and deal extra damage.
That's all I can think of. Good luck!
