Anyone else noticing lag?
Been playing this off and on since I picked up my VR Headset in 2020, only recently have street views been slow to load, or just been in the plain wrong location.

Map and StreetView data is streamed from Google servers just like the desktop version so load speeds do vary depending on network/internet conditions. Also note that when StreetView is slow to load, your position doesn't update until StreetView does so wait until the preview on your hand changes before entering otherwise you'll end up at the last location that was loaded.

I have heard of some people having slowdown due to cache problems but I've never experienced it myself. You can find some more info about that issue in some other threads if you look around.

Same here. Been using Google Earth VR for years with no issue and as of now, the street view takes like 3 or more seconds to load. I tried deleting my cache for the application but it didn't solve the problem.

That's the exact same problem I'm having. You mind me asking what vr headset you use? I was looking into reinstalling.

Samsung Odyssey Plus. I tried it again and found that actually some of the street view pictures load instantly but most pictures still take over 3 seconds to load. It seems like certain pictures just take longer to load now. I can come back to those exact pictures and it's consistent in which pictures take longer. I'm not sure why that is but it makes me feel like it's a server issue.

That is what I am thinking aswell. The other day it was working fine for about 15 minutes then started to slow down again. Same exact issue as you. I am on Rift S

I wonder if google are doing an overhaul of Earth? Maybe/hopefully this is just temporary?

Same issue here. I've used Google earth VR for years across three headset styles (Rift CV1/ Quest 2/ HP Reverb G2). It's always been fast and lag free. The last few months I really notice how long it takes to load frames in street view. Once in awhile it will load a bunch of them fast, then lag again. I reinstalled a few times thinking it was my rig. I'm convinced its a server side issue.

I think they are limiting bandwidth to either this application specifically or possibly across the entire Earth platform. This is by far my favorite VR application and it's a shame to see that it's not actively being maintained or worked on. It is one of the major driving forces to my support of VR. I think that with a moderate amount of promotion a reasonably priced paid version of this app could perform very well. I'm sure many other people would love to sink their teeth into this if they knew it was being worked on.

Well, if you exit the 'Street View' mode and walk forwards or backwards, and wait a few seconds, you will see that the 360 image will be updated and then yes, you can return to 'StreetView' mode. Then, bring the 'StreetView' sphere closer to your face, enjoy the image, remove it from your face, walk forward and re-approach the 'StreetView' sphere. It has worked for me this way without the 'failed to load next photo' message.

this is easily worth 60 bucks for me if it worked well without lag and perhaps some more features!
