I did a bit of digging and found that Hyperdrive games is/was run by one Chris Bernecker. A Google search for this name turned up (among many results for other people with the same or similar names) a Facebook profile for "Chris Bernecker (Raziel Kanos), CEO/Lead Designer at Hyperdrive Games"; the name Raziel Kanos also shows up on the Hyperdrive forums as an administrator and employee of Hyperdrie Games. I did not find any contact information (e-mail, phone, etc.) or any way of getting in touch with Hyperdrive Games other than their forum (forum.hyperdrive-games.com). That forum is, to first appearance dead, and has been since June/July. There is however one recent thread in the German language "Diskussionen" section, asking (according to Google Translate) essentially the same question asked here on 17 December, with a reply from "hub2006", apparently a Hyperdrive Games employee, translated by Google as:
It lives! We work on time for the pizza on the plate and the heat from the heating : Thumbsup: But the work continues
I have seen *rare* cases where a developer isn't hard from for 6-12 months and then suddenly wakes up again (*cough* Legends of Dawn *cough*) but it doesn't happen often. Likewise this whole "Emergency Support Command" business (see https://www.facebook.com/notes/hyperdrive-games/hilfe-f%C3%BCr-fl%C3%BCchtlinge-einmal-anders-kickstarterkampagne-f%C3%BCr-emergeny-support-com/913484792050509?_fb_noscript=1, and http://esc.hyperdrive-games.de/) seems just a little suspicious given the Vol'Talkes situation.
If nothing else, this company does a TERRIBLE job of communicating with their customers - how hard is it to have someone update the web page or post on a forum once every 2-3 weeks?
Very, very fishy.
they gave an interview with a german gaming youtube channel about the refugee-game:
http://game-alert.de/2015/wie-man-die-fluechtlingsdebatte-auf-games-uebertragen-kann/
and finally: their facebook page lists a phone number... https://www.facebook.com/HyperDriveGames/?fref=nf
maybe someone could call and politely ask about Vol'Talkes?
EDIT: official contact mail of one of the devs: http://www.mynewsdesk.com/de/contact_people/chris-bernecker-lead-gamedesigner-project-lead-57238
https://twitter.com/razielkanos is active
http://www.raziel-kanos.com/ is too (lol)
no one doubted that raziel stopped existing or was deleted from the whole internet :D
but on the sites you listed, messages about game development ceased after the time the updates here vanished.....
so yeah i guess they have given up the project. Let's simply hope i'm wrong or that the devs decide to announce anything... i seriously hope this is not another "scam" (no one is legally forced to complete an early acess game i think, but i do think that you have an obligation to your buyers)
I will however hug someone if this project rises like the phoenix from the ashes :)
For the record, I do not claim a money back. Just a finish from the work and even I have offered several times my free help with this proyect.
i dont know the truth, but maybe you can send him an invite and ask him.
At the end, for me the game is not stopped, it is dead.
Or any articles or threads in which this is mentioned by the actual developer?
Thanks.
Can you quote the link/article where they stated that 100% of profits would be donated?
Thanks.
Even the SMG forum is dead........end story.
