Bookworm Adventures Not Available on Steam Anymore!

Hello, Bookworm fans!

Recently, I have been saving up for Bookworm Adventures because my only disk copy of the game is non-functional and broken. However, I was disappointed to see that throughout all of my searches, I could not find a way to actually buy it.

I started off by searching the game up on the Steam store, only to be brought to the demo version, and even then it didn't work and only brought me back to the homepage to Steam.

I then decided to look up "Bookworm Adventures on Steam" on Google, and ended up finding a link to the game! ...Which only brought me back to the homepage of Steam again.

Finally, I decided to contact PopCap directly, and although I have not received a response yet, it's because I've sent it only minutes after the typing of this discussion. I will post an update once PopCap responds.

If anyone has a link to the game or an idea on how to get the link, I would greatly appreciate the help. I want this game very badly, and the fact that it is available at the exact WRONG time makes this process all the more frustrating.

UPDATE: I have heard back from PopCap Games, and here is the whole email, word by word.

I wouldn't doubt that a problem between Steam and PopCap is to blame for this, but I'm pretty upset that this was the response. I now have to contact Steam Support on this issue.

UPDATE 2: I've received this update from Steam Support confirming that it may not be an issue between PopCap and Steam:

" Hello,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Please exit Steam and go to the folder called C:\Program Files\Steam\ (this is the default location for a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).

Delete all of the files in this folder except:

- Steamapps and Userdata folders

- Steam.exe (this file is listed as an application and features the blue and white Steam logo)

Restart your computer.

Then, launch Steam.exe from within the Steam installation folder, and not from a pre-existing shortcut.

With Steam running, re-test the original issue.

Note: This process will not affect your currently installed games.

If the issue persists, make sure your network is optimized for Steam by following the guide below:

I hope this works, because this looks legitimate. If this works, I'll post this again in another discussion and spread the word that Bookworm Adventures is playable still!

It's interesting to note that it's not available on Origin anymore either. If it had just been removed from Steam, I would have suspected licensing issues. However, with EA owning PopCap, it's kind of odd that it was also removed from Origin.

Edit: Another peculiarity is that the PopCap Complete Collection is no longer available either. I was hoping to pick it up at some point, so I'm very disappointed as well with what is happening.

I wanted to buy it in the Summer sale myself too. And actually besides Steam and Origin, it was also removed from pogo (where the popcap.com website's "buy now" button still links to this day and it's giving an error message)

That response from Steam Support is just one of their generic responses - whoever read your ticket either didn't bothering reading it fully, or misunderstood it. In this situation it's highly unlikely they would have anything to say, anyway. The removal has probably been carried out by Popcap (especially as it's no longer available elsewhere either), and if Steam were to actually send a related reply, it'd just be to tell you to ask Popcap. Popcap's response simply means they don't want to (or legally can't) talk about why it was removed.

Since it's one particular series which was removed, I'd guess either that there's been a dispute with someone who was a developer on Bookworm but not on other Popcap games, or that the rights to the Bookworm games have been sold to someone else.

Was also saving up for this game (and its sequel) on the upcoming Summer 2016 sale but the game seems to have been taken down here on Steam :(

Mom's gonna be disappointed because I was supposed to get her this for a present since I want my games to be legit copies ever since I'd learned of Steam offering Steam wallet cards on my country since a year ago.

Do you have PopCap's support address by any chance? I need to ask them about a Bejeweled Twist issue that's basically unresolved at the moment.

I'm having the same problem. I was thinking of buying it during the summer sale, but this is not a Steam (the program) issue. Searching for it online also redirects to front page, so refreshing your Steam installation won't do anything. Very disappointing, Valve.

Wow, I didn't know this game was removed. I remember having trouble getting my steam version to work when I first got this years ago. Popcap's support sent me an .exe copy of the game instead, which got the job done.

Here's hoping the game comes back to market again. It's always a bad sign when something is put down the Memory Hole.

lol, $20? Pass. Anyway, Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey is close enough to Bookworm's gameplay (plus featues a cameo), so I'm good. And anyway, that's still not technically the Steam version.
