Anyone wish Cyberpunk 2077 was in this universe?
I find the Shadowrun universe so much cooler than the Cyberpunk universe with the magical creatures. Would have been a smoother transition from Witcher franchise as well.

Who agrees?

Well I found Hong Kong to overstay its welcome. But it was third in the trilogy so maybe I was just over it by then.

My playtime is Returns: 31 hours. Dragonfall: 54 hours. Hong Kong: 76 hours.

So each game got longer and longer.

Admittedly I haven't played as much of Hong Kong as I should have but I did find Dragonfall to be slightly better. Both are tons better than the original though, it really was a good concept game but everything just worked better in Dragonfall. Gonna definitely agree with the OP statement though, I have always enjoyed the Cyberpunk style/generalised setting but something about the combination with magic and magical creatures in Shadowrun just made it feel slightly more...I don't know really, just more alive in a sense. I would have loved to see an AAA RPG like 2077 in Shadowrun with all the art detail that entails but i guess that is not to be

Nah. That's nothing I would wish. The roots of the genre are not fantasy, cyberpunk is cyberpunk, no magic involved.

Shadowrun is it's own thing - not the "better version" of something else. That's why SR can easily acknowledge its roots and the outstanding quality thereof, which lie in literature and film primarily of course. The same way SR can also acknowledge the "Cyberpunk" RPG, which is in no way more of a 'competitor' or 'rival' than D&D, Vampire, or GURPS. On the contrary.

Cyberpunk is a fine game and any Shadowrun fan should be glad if it does flourish, thereby nourishing the common roots SR also depends on to thrive itself. May it be successful!

It would have been beter in my point of view.

I agree op. This series has a dedicated fan base, lore and universe already built with an established recognized name 30 years in the making. It would have been a perfect IP for CDPR to integrate into their catalog rather than starting from scratch since they aren't writers.
"Cyberpunk 2020" is an RPG from 1988. That's one year before shadowrun was published. It's closer to the actual roots and their setting, which is William Gibson's novel "Neuromancer" (1984) and the original "Blade Runner" movie (1982). Of course the 'genre' includes more, for instance "Ghost in the Shell" (1989 the manga, 1995 the anime) or "Battle Angel Alita" (2001, manga). All of it besides shadowrun excludes magic.
No offense, but Your point is moot.

*To clarify this: "Cyberpunk 2077" is straight and simple based on "Cyberpunk 2020". Night City is from Cyberpunk 2020. It's not just randomly sharing the name.

It think it would be better for a simple reason: cyberpunk 2077 is inspired by shadowrun and other RPGs that have cyberpunk in it, with other gameplay features than some RPGs (some for not being turn based), but less role playing and immersion than them I would argue (decking is much more interesting than a minigame of logic for jacking into ♥♥♥♥).
I mean, there are things there that are straight from cyberpunk genres like shadowrun, like fixers and jacking, etc.
Yes, there were cyberpunk 2020 from 1988, but I would say many games have used influences from other games through time, adapting and incorporating new stuff. Cyberpunk going through the same vein of 2020 would not use magic because of genre, certainly, but that is not the question of the OP. The question is if it would be interesting, if people would wish for it. Personally I would for the reasons I mentioned, more potential for stories, role playing and lore.
Cyberpunk just for the sake of repeating the old duality of street vs corpo is a bit dull in my view.
For instance, if they incorporated more from blade runner, ghost in the shell and whatnot, things could be much more interesting.

agreed...I just want a new shadowrun game haha.

Hopefully they take up the challenge!

That is the problem with Hong Kong. I also am OCD about reading all the dialogue. "Problem" with Hong Kong is they give every character sooo much dialogue, that the reading to combat ratio becomes totally out of whack.

Hence my 76 hour playtime... wonder how much of that is reading...

I like reading especially when it's well-written but Hong Kong just did not get the "pacing" right.

Yall have to try Cirion's workshop trilogy Antumbra Saga (SR Dragonfall), Caldecott Caper (SR HK), and CalFree in Chains (SR HK). The writing is phenomenal and the conversation/decisions are meaningful, ie it is worth reading them and the game isnt "on rails".

The only thing which separates Cyberpunk from Shadowrun is the existence of magic in Shadowrun's settings.

If you want to play as an Orc, Troll, Elf, est. in Cyberpunk, you can do so with the aid of special cosmetic packages called "Exotics."

Even Dragons are possible for those willing to chip in for the surgery!

Unfortunately, these packages tend to be very expensive, so only the wealthier members of society can afford to purchase one.

I got some bad news for ya - that didn't make it into the game.

That wasn't the point. The OP wished that Cyberpunk took place in the same universe as Shadowrun. To which I pointed out the only real difference between the two is the existence of magic.

Body Sculpting technology allows any of the 'races' from Shadowrun to be present in the Cyberpunk universe.

I'm not sure about that. SR comes with a hefty dose of mythology, and to buy into that requires a far more rpg oriented player. Cyberpunk is a version of SR for the casual gamer. A lot of these casual gamers find that introducing metahuman variants messes with their suspension of disbelief. Whereas all cyberpunk requires is for a player to buy into sci-fi, though even then most of these concepts are evolved from what is already around us. In short, the SR world requires a greater leap for most players to get into.

Having said that, I really enjoyed Dragonfall, HK is a little too caught up its own story but still fun to play.
