More nuyen
Is there any way at all to grind for more nuyen? This is my third playthrough and I never have anywhere near enough money. The discussions that I have read seem to say "no". Is there a character editor so I can just cheat and give myself 10k? Being broke all of the time makes a lot of things that I would like to play with in this game useless because if I waste my money on them (drugs / spirits / med supplies) I can't buy the stuff that I need. All of the really cool stuff is like 5K and runs only pay out 1500-2500

Is there a workshop add-on that I can export to, grind, and then reimport back into the real campaign?

That's the schtick in HK: you will be broke if you rely on consumables.

To help with money somewhat, save up your metadata until just before the hunt for the Plastic Faced Man, then dump all the metadata on Maximum in one go. Also, in the Prosperity Tower run, kill the VP so that you can pocket the nuyen for yourself. Disable the alarm and clear out the security first before you go see him.

When going after the plastic faced man, chose his apartment and bring Racter along for some extra nuyen.

Sell any extra weapons or supplies that you pick up along the way (Shotguns, grenades, spells, docwagons, meds).

Keep the Ares prototype laser gun, it's worth 1000.

Buy upgrades sparingly.

SF brings up a good point. When you buy upgrades, make sure it's a big jump, like from a Grade C drone to a Grade A one.

ctrl + ` keys opens the cheat menu for all the shadowruns out on steam. Use it sparingly, as giving yourself max stats and a crapload of money is amusing and good for a "full" stealth type run, but its not that fun other than to see all the side stuff.

Can second this. Cheated like crazy my first time and had a lot of fun actually getting to USE all the shiny new toys, but it's hardly the intended HK experience.

Been meaning to go back and do it all 'properly,' but haven't had the free time yet.

"Shadows of Hong Kong" is more lax with the cash, as Kindly gives you a huge infusion at the end of the main campaign. Besides, you really need the money more over there; the fights are way harder than the main campaign's.

On the Ares run, it really depends on whether you're spending a lot of nuyen on consumables. If you give the prototype laser to the other team, the other team will stick with you all the way. 1000 nuyen for cannon fodder: whether it's worth it or not depends on your play style.

Make sure to achieve a perfect outcome on your runs. Rewards can differ quite a bit depending on how you did. Not that it alleviates the shortage alltogether...

If I remember correctly, you only get around ¥18000 from doing ALL the possible runs with a Decker to steal paydata, when you sell EVERYTHING you pick up and NEVER buy anything until the shops start selling the best stuffs right before Prosperity Tower.

That should be enough to buy some or all of the best stuffs you need for your character and save Emi too if you're Socialite.

There is cheat menu, but the beauty of Shadowrun is really the fact that difficulty has interesting balance, game gives you enough money to get by, but not enough get everything you want. That makes you really think about better gun or better cybernetics or something twice. Do I really need this?

Good oldschool CRPG idea of trial and error. Getting trough everything without cheating is more rewarding even if game doesn't punish you for it.

I completely agree with the comments against cheating too much. I only wanted to check out the higher end gear. TY Chaosbringer for pointing out the cheat code. I gave myself 10k and got my fix.

I am an old school shadowrunner from 1st and 2nd edition. I used to play a magic 5 mage as my main. Smart gun link and boosted reflexes 1 were just too good to not get in the old PnP. The skill cyber affinity is great in this game. This new skill reminds me of level 2 and 3 of being an initiate. Is this new skill in the current version of the PnP game or is it only an adaptation for this video game?
