Opinions on Racter?
I love Racter so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much, I relate to this guy on a personal level and his drone Koschei is a great attack asset, especially given his support device, which also works on drones other than Koschei. Hands down my favorite team mate in the game. (I said team mate Ambrose, don't worry, still love you too) So, what's your opinion on Racter? Love him? Find him Terrifying? Perhaps some thoughts on his combat abilities? I'd like to know, share some Racter appreciation.

I enjoyed having him around for the most part. Koschei was a beast in combat.

He's both interesting in game and creepy. But well, he's a psycho after all, although I can understand some of his point of view if I put part of my "humanity" aside.

However, his support device doesn't seem to work properly. I can tell it works for the AP bonus shot, but anything else doesn't seem to work. I don't get accuracy bonus from the accuracy shot nor the +1 Strength/Quickness shot. However, Koschei's gun (especially the laser) and melee weapon are quite useful.

I honestly don't get the worship for Racter's character. He's moderately cool, I guess, being a dude at the end of his career in a genre mostly proliferated with people at the beginning or height of theirs. But I don't know how folks find him "creepy" or "terrifying." There's a rigger in Dragonfall that I'd legit attach those words to, but not Racter.

The transhumanism thing isn't new; maybe it's fascinating for people who haven't had an existential crisis, I guess. Same folks who thought The Stanley Parable was some paradoxical work of art.

Don't get me wrong, he's got a thematic enough backstory and koschei works well enough in combat, but with 3 DPS characters on the crew, it feels like I'd almost always rather take Duncan (shiawase magnet arm+assault rifle) or gaichu (melee to knock targets out of cover) depending on what my own PC's build was. I just don't get the whole fanboying over him.

Actually, the slight creepyness I see within him is because of his lack of humanity (which seems logical), otherwise he isn't scary nor terrifying, as I know he's smart enough to not kill for the sake of doing it.

Are you talking about Blitz ? He's neither creepy nor terrifying. He's worthy of doubts and unexplicably annoying.

I don't know but I'd rather bring Racter than Is0bel or Gaichu. I never was a fan of melee characters in HBS Shadowrn (Glory being an exception in Dragonfall). I think he's more of "the 3rd guy to fill the hole in my team" rather than anything else.

I hated Blitz. Hated him so much. Was a terrible decker, a terrible rigger, and couldnt hit the broadside of a barn. Not to mention he would always open his big fat mouth and get us into bad situations on runs.

Of course I'm not talking about Blitz. The rigger I'm talking about isn't a playable character, but a major NPC in one of the runs.

The reason I like melee/thrown characters, at least one in a DPS slot, is that they flush from cover. With Gaichu in metal stance, he doesn't take crits, making him a great tank, and you can run him forward, knock someone out of cover, then finish them off with ranged DPS. He shouldn't be a big damage dealer on his own until there's only one or two enemies left. Admittedly, you can spec Koschei for melee damage, especially after the loyalty run so he becomes unkillable, but I tend to spec Koschei for range damage. That laser tho.

Glory was more offensive in that you can buff up her AP, send her forward with claws, switch to pistol for the 2x burst attack on a non-cover target at point-blank range for all kinds of high accuracy. And if you didn't pick up AR with the PC, Eiger's right there with shotgun or sniper and you can lend her an AR.

Ah, that one. I completely forgot about him. Yeah, that's another level of creepy.

I recently read a bug report from someone who said that Gaichu metal stance had 2 issues :
- he wasn't getting said small cover bonus
- apparently, his targets were getting a small cover bonus when active
