Why are newspapers more expensive than oil and everything else starting at ~300?
Has anyone figured this one out yet?

Probably to balance out the fact that they give extra multipliers to things like lemons, donuts and pizza, e.g. at 125, 150, 175 etc. as opposed to the usual 100, 200, 300 for everything else.

But even things like cars, pizzas, and donuts are wayyy more expensive than oil and banks.

That's just how it works. The smaller busineses have more diminishing returns e.g. when you buy a car wash, it increases the price of the next car wash by a larger percent than when you buy one oil after another oil. It's just how the game is designed. Probably to encourage you to go to the higher businesses instead of just farming the low ones infinitely.

That makes basically no sense. The all business multiplier seemed to be there to encourage us specifically to go for all businesses, not just focus on the best three.

I don't know what you expect to hear then, because there's no other reason besides they decided to do it that way.

It makes no sense. Oh well. That's how it is.

Newspapers are more expensive because they are the deciding factor in what is currently your most profitable resource.

At the later stages you'll get like x20 or x25 for each tier of newspaper upgrade onto various resources. Things that are falling behind quickly catch up and become your most profitable. Donuts, for example, don't make a lot in the beginning but are one of the most profitable at the end of the game.
Over time, prices basicly reverse, making Newspapers the most expensive, and Oil Rigs quite cheap by comparison.

I know that but car washes will also be more expensive than oil rigs.

Best thing would be to accept the gameplay mechanics and, based on that, figure out the tactics it needs to make the most profit (as explained by community members above). Sorry Karsten, as long as you don't ask the developer himself, no one will be able to give you better answers than those written in this topic.

This is intended! As you progress through the game, you'll find out that different investements have more importance and grow/diminish in profits in relation to their current amount. The Newspaper investments are very important, as they benefit all investments. Good luck!

On my phone, im a trigintillionare and by the time you can afford ~2000 news paper stands it becomes the dominating money maker as the multipliers are x9 - x15 for ever 100 - 200 statnds you have.
