Sorry for wanting to support developers :|
afaik, the flux capacitor is always multiplicative, but the 3x is definitely additive with itself. Since you can buy 2 3x upgrades for each flux capacitor, the breakpoint to switch over to flux capacitors would be after x30. x36 from x30 would only be an overall x1.2 vs. x1.21 per flux capacitor, and the multipliers would continue to get worse. So, multipliers to x30, flux capacitors from then on out. Unless you just want one early for the swag.
According to his explanations they give bonus to speed. So first one increases your profit by 221/100-1=121%, second by 342/221-1=55%, third by 463/342-1=35%, etc...
At the same time multipliers: first by 300/100-1=200%, second by 600/300-1=100%, third by 900/600-1=50%, etc... So optimal progression is: 1. one multiplier for 200% increase in income, 2. one capitalor for 121% increase in income, 3. one multiplier for 100% increase in income, 4. one capitalor for 55% increase in income, 5. one multiplier for 50% increase in income, ...
This is provided they cost the same, but I don't remember their actual cost.
Checked the actual prices - Capitalor costs 40 gold, while x3 multiplier 20 gold, so now we have:
x3 multipliers:
1st - 300/100-1=200%: 200%/20=10%/gold
2nd - 600/300-1=100%: 100%/20=5%/gold
1st and 2nd together: 600/100-1=500%: 500%/40=12%/gold
3rd - 900/600-1=50%: 50%/20=2.5%/gold
4th - 1200/900-1=33%: 33%/20=1.7%/gold
3rd and 4th together: 1200/600-1=100%: 100%/40=2.5%/gold
5th - 1500/1200-1=25%: 25%/20=1.25%/gold
6th - 1800/1500-1=20%: 20%/20=1%/gold
5th and 6th together: 1800/1200-1=50%: 50%/40=1.25%/gold
...
Capitalors:
1st - 221/100-1=121%: 121%/40=3%/gold
2nd - 342/221-1=55%: 55%/40=1.38%/gold
3rd - 463/342-1=35%: 35%/40=0.88%/gold
Result: 1. 1st and 2nd multiplier, 2. 1st capitalor, 3. 3rd and 4th multiplier, 4. 2nd capitalor, ...
So your global cash income multiplier from gold upgrades is (1+1.21*FC)*(GMult).
To judge, from your current gold upgrades, which option is the most efficient, divde this total cash income multiplier with a new setup in question by your old one and subtract 1, this is your bonus as a decimal fraction. Divide it by the gold cost, and you get bonus per gold. Compare your options and take the most efficient setup. :)
Basically dont know the calculations but if it normally took 20 seconds to complete, the timer still says 20 seconds but in real world times it takes about 5 seconds...
the x12 multiplier is prob still better value, but i plan on spending more gold when i earn it on events and will put them towards more flux capacitors
The way flux capitalors work is not clear from the wording so I'll explain. I had to search for it but the info is hidden out there. Then I bought some and the results matched up.
The very first one you buy increases times by 221%. I don't know if that's a bug or intended but that's the way it is. Buying just one is a huge speed improvement. The second adds 121% to that for a 342% boost. All the rest just add 121%.
To make it clear the original answer I found offered this table which shows how long a regular 24 hour cycle takes with FCs. It doesn't show an increase in numbers but you can measure it.
1 Flux Capitalor = 10hr 51min
2 Flux Capitalor = 7hr
3 Flux Capitalor = 5hr 11min
4 Flux Capitalor = 4hr 6min
5 Flux Capitalor = 3hr 24min
6 Flux Capitalor = 2hr 54min
7 Flux Capitalor = 2hr 32min
8 Flux Capitalor = 2hr 15min
Supporting developers that develop a good product they advertise honestly is commendable. AdVenture Capitalist is none of those things. It's impossible to beat earth in less than a million years or with less than a billion dollars of microtransactions.
If you're dumb enough to support that, have fun.
