You can test it yourself btw. Just launch the task manager before the game, and then start the game itself and just watch how badly your CPU will be loaded from this tiny software.
This has been discussed many times before. The CPU load is high because it's doing constant math with large numbers for every business on the current planet. It's a combination of unoptimized code and constant number crunching (every single frame at however many FPS you get).
Bitcoin mining scammers don't really bother with home PC's anymore, they don't have the processing power to be much help. Besides, the devs make enough cash on this game it wouldn't even be worth their time.
Using your pc (with or without your knowledge or consent) to calculate a mathematical formula which "unlocks" bitcoins, basically. You can then sell the bitcoins for real money.
Exactly, which is why it's silly to think Hyper Hippo is doing that. It's paranoia.
Hope it's just the game running poorly.
2. So why do you think the game makes insanely difficult calculations? it is not. Those calculations are pretty easy to perform. The second question here is why my CPU uses 80-100% of my first core even when the game is not running, when you are in the main menu? By the way, almost all games use only one core of your PC. And mind you, I have a very good CPU (Intel i7-6700k).
3. Thirdly, I didn't check my GPU usage when the game running. Therefore, I can't confirm that it is not being used at all.
4. You might be saying that bitcoin mining is not a viable option because of your PC cant bring you enough revenue. The problem in this thinking is that you are talking only about yourself. Multiply it by thousands of users (I dont know how many online players are there on steam), you get thousands of dollars a month/day. Not a bad passive revenue. The bad news for you, however, is that the life lenfgth of your PC components is reduced dramatically when it is being used during the mining. For you that means you will have to buy a new CPU or GPU faster because it is more likely to break.
When played on lower graphics or the "fast" option. The FPS is unlocked and that's what makes the game eat your cpu. Try picking fancy graphics and the game will be locked at 60 fps and the problem will be solved.
Stop being so logical, you must be part of the conspiracy. ;)
A single-thread CPU miner does not make any sense.
Thank you for explaining. I am not a computer expert. I just told why it was suspicious.
