I don't know how far back this person was on your list. but it doesn't immediately sound like hacking to me.
Hacking would go further than was needed.
Also if you connect to an event, lose internet connection you can still gain points in the event, but it won't update until you reconnect to the internet (and check the leaderboard). allowing you to hide your points for a longer duration,
but in this case I would imagine the person just burned some time warps for some last minute points.
But as said by the other guy, feel free to report them via email to the game support staff. although I'm not sure what they'll do after the event has concluded.
again, there is a way but would require not being connected to the internet and then connecting in the last 5 minutes, but yes there are more than 50 players of each event, so there are different boards.
if you want to win an event easily its probably best to join at a time when people are less motivated to win.
like people who join the event first day, play every day, and are motivated to win.
people who join the event on the third day? less motivated. people who join the event at a period of time 12 hours from the game ending, probably won't be awake during the last 5 minutes of the game ending preventing, upsetting final ten minutes.
if your goal is to get 1st place, id advice getting a leaderboard where people aren't as motivated to win.
if your goal is to compete then compete with other people playing to win obviously.
and again after you start the game the leaderboard fills up with the next 50 people to join the event. so do it at a time where they'd be less motivated. not sure how this is hard to understand.
