AdCap Won't Start...
Yeah so i remembered this game from my childhood and i was like ''Why don't i install it again.''
Installed it game crashed on startup and refuses to load.
Apprently there was some error made by the developers that bricked the game, but thats from may...and theres a hotfix... I tried Verifying the Integrity of the game files, didnt work. I tried reinstalling the game, didnt work. I tried restarting steam, and it still didnt work. Even when i combined all 3 of those it still wouldn't start. I tried searching for other solutions and...nothing.

Can someone please help?

I had this problem too. An error message telling me that it could not switch to my monitor's resolution. I have tried restarting Steam/PC, uninstalling/reinstalling. I am going to post about this actually

There was a flurry of posts about it a while back, something to do with running in compatibility mode for Windows 7 or 8 fixed it for some people, but not all

I played the game when it released. I think my problem is about save files. I deleted the saves on regedit and steam/userdata and now i am playing the game

Hey everyone,

Sorry to hear some of you are experiencing issues loading the game. Please email us at adventurecapitalist@hyperhippo.ca, and if possible attach an output log from the game to your email so we can look into this further and hopefully help you troubleshoot the issue.

After running the game, you can find the output log here:

Windows: Navigate to: C:\Users\(username)\AppData\LocalLow\Hyper Hippo Productions Ltd_\AdCap!
(be sure to change the username to the one on your PC)

Mac: Search for the "Console" in your applications, then under files find Unity > Player.log. Copy and paste the information in the player.log into a text file.

This is what fixed my resolution problem. Thanks Starblind!
Bring up the game properties in steam, browse file location. Right click adcap.exe and open up its properties. Change compatibility to win 7.

Just reinstalled the game, and getting this same issue - compatibility mode doesn't work, turning off steam overlay doesn't work, and run as admin doesn't work.

TYSM this worked for me. Before that it just said that no screen resolutions worked for me??

Do yall even CARE about your game if youre too lazy to fix the biggest bug in the game, that doesnt even LET you play the game, then just dont be on team. This game has been up for years now, and still the devs are too lazy to fix it. It infuriates me when I spend tens of hours playing and then it stops working. Just fix your freaking game, its about time.

Starblind's method worked for me.
I sent him an award, because i have used the method with complete success numerous times.
My post has details of how i followed up on Starblind's advice.
If win 7 does not work, then try Win 8.
