Into The War
Dev...
Not really sure why you don't understand this but I will try to explain it again. Wiping the forums is bad. People spent time posting their opinions , regardless of whether you agree with them or not....

Just because you are updating the game and want a "fresh start" doesn't mean you should delete everything ever posted. It shows a very serious lack of understanding how a community works. You are censoring. Whether you see that or not won't change anything.

People on Steam have LONG memories. People will just repost it all again just to prove a point. What you are doing will inevitably produce another "streissand effect" which seems is what you think deleting the forums will evade... It won't.

I understand if you want a fresh start. I do. And I hope you are sincere and the next time the game is back for sale it is improved substantially. But deleting the forums... and not once but twice.... is really bad for your reputation.

My 2 cents.

Wiped it because you guys won Im done with ITW and done making games I have had people not just verbally attacking me which i dont care about but people have said stuff about my family too. I didnt take the game down Steam did because of people telling them it doesnt work when it did it was just buggy. So congrats you all get the trophy I am done
Sorry to hear that. But customer service is like this in pretty much any industry. And you shouldn't take internet trolls seriously. Just ban/mute/block anyone that gets personal. The rest is just little kids and trolls.

Every time i have tried to ban or mute people it always comes back to bite me. and my only option now is Greenlight again and i dont think ITW or any other game i make could survive Greenlight

Just ignore them. It isn't hard. Text on the internet that reads "kill yourself, f*ck you, f*g, etc." shouldn't mean ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to you.

Well, this is interesting since I decided to see how progress with the game has been (especially after seeing the announcement post on the 18th or 19th).

If this is your decision on the project then it's unfortunate that this happened, and honestly can't blame you for your decision either. Do I personally think this should stop you from doing what you want? Unless you want to stop then no (that said I have no idea on what work you have that needs to be tackled since you metioned it still having some bugs).

Trolls will be trolls, and even on Greenlight you'll have to deal with it to some degree (be it placing this game back on there or another one). Of course Steam, while popular, isn't the only place for distribution - sites like itch.io and other platforms are available to help grow and get the needed support to help with the Greenlight process.

Whatever your decision I wish you the best.

The behavior of the vocal minority has once again driven another developer out of the industry. Some of you will think that is a good thing but the self appointed hate squads will continue to squeeze the creativity out of our industry until all you have is large companies remaking the same games over and over. Innovation is an arduous road and you either support(patron) the artist during the rough times or you must accept a life without new experiences.
leave trolls alone and believe yourself.

Relax man. Trolls come, trolls go.

Take it from me. I'm the superadmin of a popular TTT server. When I ban one person, I get 5 or 6 ♥♥♥♥♥ at me for being abusive, threatening me and my family etc. I just ignore them, because the most they physically can do is type into a chat box and maybe DDoS my server.

If you ignore them for long enough, they will go away.

But yeah man, you aren't going to get ITW good to go off of the same store page, too much bad rep has come from its past drama. You're best bet atm is to make a new name for yourself, release a new game under a new title (you said you were looking at a crafting survival game, have you put any thought towards "Surviving the War" for an alternative title?)

I'll still be keeping my eye out for a finished successor to ITW.

Looks like steam messed up putting it back up. The dev is done with this game. He is making a new one I believe now with a new team and hopefully none of the drama.

Gee how professional, think your in the wrong business. How is this not bait and switch. People probably bought it for the original selling points. That's what's wrong with amateur devs, they have zero business sense. "People said bad things about me, so I'm taking my ball home". Glad I didn't buy this mess. I'd be royally passed if what I bought as a selling point changed into something I'm not interested in.

You do realize the dev didn't give up. He is making a new game and giving owners of ITW a copy of it. ♥♥♥♥ happens. Maybe he proves himself , maybe he doesn't. But at least he is trying after a huge drama mess xD

And he has ZERO control over what gets reactivated on the store. That is 100% valve controlled

Sounds like giving up to me, and I think he should.
