It's simply sad how modern gamers need any extra little thing to enjoy a game. What happened to being creative? Play games in different ways that YOU think of.
Its a generational thing. Took me years to come onto steam as I wanted to avoid these achievement thingies. Now I actually enjoy tracking down the last few for games I actually enjoy playing.
I think if done right achievements can add to the initial enjoyment of a game. 1/4 can teach you the games basic concepts. 1/4 more for milestones & completion. 1/4 more for difficulty based actions or events and 1/4 for grinding or extreme play. Thats how I like my spread of achievements (to a degree).
Even if you add just one achievement ppl will buy it who are achievement hunters. Getting a +1 on the Games Completed counter on their profile is a 100% buy if its an easy game to complete. At least in achievement terms.
I think if you added a dozen or so you definitely increase your sales. At least when you have another one on Steam. Given a choice between a game with or without achievements at least youd have a fighting chance.
Just came across this game. Looks good. Gonna think about a purchase!
And then theres trading cards and all that....
