Maiasaura Dossier
Common Name: Maia
Species: Maiasaura Seethoria
Time: Late Cretaceous
Diet: Herbivore
Temperament: Territorial

Wild: Maiasaura Seethoria, at first glance, would just seem like a huge Parasaur. The two are both hadrosaurs, but are vastly different. While Parasaurs seem to be solitary, Maiasaura are found in large herds. They form nesting areas, where they stay and watch their babies. The reasoning for their large grouping is to keep creatures such as Oviraptors, or greedy tribes looking for easy eggs away.

Reaching a length of almost 9 meters, they are one of the larger dinosaurs on the island. This size, combined with huge herds, makes it hard for one to kill just one.

Domesticated: Taming a few of these large hadrosaurs is beneficial for any tribe. They gladly watch over the eggs or young of the tribe's other dinosaurs, as well as somehow boosting the rate at which dinosaurs lay eggs.

They also make excellent pack animals. Compared to the smaller, faster Parasaur, Maiasaura is a major upgrade. It can also defend itself very well against predators of smaller size. However, when just one is present, it can lead predators to thinking it is alone and will attack. So, make sure to bring a few Maiasaura or another animal to defend yourself!

Author's Note: With the patch notes saying they'll add breeding and baby dinos in the future, Maiasaura came to mind! This is my first dossier, and I may make an image form in the future. I'd love to see Maiasaura in the game, as it'd add some variety in herbivores. Too many carnivore dossiers flying around.

That's pretty much what I meant ^^' "...against predators of smaller size" like raptors and sabers. So you'd need a few to defend against a carno or somethin, so I'd imagine in a realistic situation if it were in the game, you'd probably just want a dino meant for offense around when using it.

Nice but I think Paras are in herds... Until something attacks...

Hm :/ I'm not sure what the para's dossier said, but I usually see just a few Paras together, if not alone. Maiasaura would be in a HUGE herd.

The thing is, they spawn in herds... Then a Dilo attacks and they go in twenty different directions.

True. But, if I were to put Maiasaura in Ark, each different server would have a spot where the Maiasaura nest. It'd take up a lot of room, and they'd spawn with nests filled with either eggs or their young. They'd stay in that spot, until forced to move by something (e.g., a hungry Rex or Spino), as opposed to the Parasaur that just kinda roam everywhere.

I'd just like a Maiasaura that can take care of babies for me.

I ain't no baby dino's daddy, I don't got no time to take care of a bunch of baby animals. Just them feeding them in the baby stage and stopping at juvenile is enough for me.
