IMO a more interesting question is if Aquatica assets will exist on and be transferable to other maps. At present I believe the only way that could happen, without modifying the core game, is if the Aquatica DLC includes an Aquatica mod which has to be loaded on all other maps in any clusters which include Aquatica (or even other maps in single player). Otherwise Snail would need to update the core game (yikes) to support those assets on the other maps.
In either case I can imagine quite a few mods breaking, though I can't imagine why Snail would want to take on the responsibility of supporting this broken game for even one second. Based on the Snail/WC business model, they'll probably just release it, break a ton, and tell everyone "Good luck and thanks for the money, suckers!"
If Aquatica breaks my ASE game even if I don't buy it, I would leave Ark forever and never buy another game made by Snail/Wildcard.
We asked him if he's going to update the mod because right now his mod is on "bug fixes only" for ASE, and he said this:
Either they sucker people into buying a DLC or they kill off the ASE playerbase so it won't compete with ASA.
I still think this is a bizarre take. There are any number of easier ways they could kill mods, or ASE in general, starting by delisting it from the Steam store. (along with removing the devkit from EPIC)
Despite the fact that the trailer was low effort, building a map and reopening official servers requires manpower and capital.
They're trying to capitalize on the still healthy, ASE community, which WC decided to ignore.
That's possible, but it doesn't automatically mean it's bad.
I'm mean WC headed up The Center on ASA and it was outsourced, and it's a crime what they did to that map from the videos and screenshots I've seen.
