T-rex

seems like spinosaurus wins in that video ^^

T-Rex. From what I know, the Spinosaurus in this game will follow the more scientifically accurate approach in making it almost entirely aquatic. On land, the Spino walks on all fours, so its arms are used to support itself - and it is, by no means, a decent walker on land.

So a battle on land between the two would most definitely lead to the T-Rex's victory, even though the Spino is larger. It just doesn't belong there.

A battle in the water, well, I don't think a T-Rex would last long even while not fighting.

I'm sure I saw another post like this already in-which most said T-Rex. I have to say though, I just started watching a dinosaur documentary (because of this game xD) and I have to say i'm now a huge fan of Spinosaurus. That will now be my ultimate tame, presuming of-course that it is actually tameable.

as for spinosaurus though it would walk most likley on 4 limbs but can lift it arms in air while in combat etc from what i've heard
Rayvehn May 18, 2015 @ 6:01am
Even if it can lift its arms for awhile, its body structure is not the same as most Theropods. It cannot just move around, stand for a long time, and fight like such. Its body is longer, more slender, and it's be unbalanced if it stood up for long. In that situation, if it were hit, it'd fall and it'd be game over.

Spinosaurus is an incredibly specialized dinosaur, it's unrivaled in its field of fishing. But if it were to fight T-Rex, it's lose. t just isn't made for that, it rules its own area.

Of course, this is assuming that the Spinosaurus in ARK is exactly how science now depicts it, which they may not. But Accurate Spino V. T-Rex, T-Rex wins all the time.

I love the Spinosaurus, but I know it's beat.

youre probably right i'm just hoping spinosaurus is stronger in this game because lets be honest its waaaay cooler then a t-rex

I don't think it'd need to be stronger. In its habitat, the T-Rex cannot touch it. And in its habitat, it could be a true terror to behold.

Stronger =/= better ;)

but i want to ttame it so it wont be in my base but i'm guessing it will be a boss type monster that we can summon in some kind of lake or whatever wich is untamable but i'm really hoping i'm wrong about that it would make me so sad if i cant tame a spinosaurus

I'd bet for us being able to tame it, just like a T-Rex. It can still go on land, but it'd probably be a poor land-mount. In the water, however, it'd be a great choice, right alongside the Sarcosuchus.

Being a Boss monster - it couldn't rival a Dragon, so I doubt it'd be a Boss. Definitely tamable. But maybe not able to ride on...? Unless we could ride along the sides of the large spine it has, for like a two-seater.

well i'm guessing not all the bosses will be as strong as the dragon just like raids in mmorpgs some are easier some are harder but give better loot in most cases

The JP3 movie really has a lot to answer for. The only reason why Spino won in that was because it was newly discovered and the main guy making the film wanted it to be the main dino, he also didn't like T-Rex and he thought of T-Rex as only a scavenger unable to hunt for its own food. He thought of Spino as the true land predator....all of this without him knowing any real evidence of the dinosaur. It being a fish eater and adapted for that lifestyle meant it would never be able to kill another land predator. The best it could do was defend itself with its claws (could only slap them side to side) or intimidate with its large size.

In real life the predator that got in the first big bite would of won....in the movie that was T-Rex but in reality Spino wouldn't of been able to break free like it did in the movie because the bite force of the T-Rex would of broken its neck.

Now with the new evidence showing it was a possible quadruped on land its even less likely to of won a fight vs a land predator of similar size. Also the Spino isn't that much bigger than T-Rex, its longer but most of its height comes from its sail.

Based on the fossils T-Rex was also more intelligent, faster and more deadly, its arms weren't even that useless and could lift a lot of weight. There's also some evidence to suggest it might of hunted in packs or small family groups.

I think the have an even chance because Rex is more battle hardened, and has a much higher bite force, but Spinosaurus Is huge, and has deadly claws, but he mainly uses those for fishing. His jaw would be a little more fragile than T - Rex's.
