ARK: Survival Evolved

Currency?
Is ARK going to support some sort of in game currency? ie gold/silver coins/bars something like that.

Im aware that trading precious resources will probably be the primary way to exchange goods but seeing as how we can mine metals I thought I would ask.

Lets face it sometimes trading currency for goods is a much simpler exchange . Who is to say you want to trade goods at all but instead just buy them

EDIT: Let me state once again I am in no way interested in Micro transactions or trading real currency for in game currency. This was more of an inquiry than anything

When have currencies ever actually been a good thing in games?
Lol the salt is real on this thread

Who's salty? People just disagree with your idea, it's nothing personal.
And frankly, if you give it some thought you'll see how a currency doesn't make sense.
You can't eat gold coins and they make shabby houses. There is no reason anybody would want an artificial currency over something useful.

AS you progress in this game things like eating become simple and mundane shelter becomes easier to obtain... Lets just assume that precious metals like gold are needed for items like GPS or Turrets etc... That instantly makes that metal valuable and a currency ... I was just more curious to see if it would be made more mainstream

That just means that some items gonna be more rare but real money like coins why should they be used?

It's a bit of an assumption, but okay. If it went as you say though, it wouldn't be a currency. It would be just another resource to trade, like logs or bullets.

That wouldn't really make it currency, just another resource to trade for. A currency would be valuable to everyone no matter what sage of the game they're at.
having a rare resource would be ideal for this like gold, silver, heck even uranium of course it doesn't really matter in a resource based game. the only purpose for rare resources is that these could be for a very high level tech/item and you would need lots of it. Or you can the Flintstones way, clams/shells. oooohhhh there we go, let us collect the shells on the beach to use for currency lol :D

Yabba Dabba ARK! (I know you all have ran off a bronto's tail and thought the same thing :D)

We use spark powder and cementing paste as currency, it's light so you can carry a lot of it and it actually has a use. You can add gold coins, calm shells, or whatever else but if it's not useful no one is really going to use it.
