By default ARK seems to already use all cores. That was based from monitoring my i5-2500K.

Agree -sm4 works by forcing DX10 but I think (I could be wrong) that --d3d10 does not work. You can enter it as a startup parameter and the game will load but no change. You can type anything you want as a startup parameter and the game will load fine but nothing may change.

One person posted that the switch -d3d9 worked but it does not.

okey thanks! :D been playing with the sm4, but torches doesnt light up the place as good sadly :(
-d3d10 and -dx10 and -sm4 all do the same thing.

thanks! it is a bummer that the sm4 makes it so that the torch does not light up as good

As well. The torch doesn't light up the area as well.
Sad useallavailablecores dosent work... without light from torches or fire is immersion breaking.

Yep, tried -sm4 and loved the FPS but it washed out the screen to the point it hurt my eyes.

If that was the only option then I think given time I could adapt.
I only have the torch problem with SM4. with decent gamma its only game breakingly dark for 2 minutes on either side of the night.
The FPS boost is well worth it considering my machine specs are good by 3 years ago.
i used the d3d10 tweak for a while, but it disabled alot of the shading effects. its all washed out and looks pretty dull. but this does yield a pretty significant FPS boost. i was seeing like a 20-30 fps boost, but it also disabled the distance shadowing as well. to each is their own, but if ark is unplayable for you, give this a try. otherwise, its not really worth it.
