Location for metal ingots (not caves)

So does anyone know locations where to get metal without going into caves. ?

The higher up you go; the better chance of metal in the ores (Not talking upwards on the map, but upwards in actual height).
Look for rocks that look like this: http://imgur.com/a/NUmkq
They are the ones with a bigger chance of Metal (if not the only chance).

An Iron Pick will yield you more Metal as well.
The Ankylo is also able to mine Metal (as well as other materials from rocks), if you have one. The Iron Pick is more efficient though (but requires repairs, which the Ankylo doesn't - obviously), but the Ankylo has storage in it's favor as well.

You can find metal anywhere (But only really in the rocks I linked an album of), to be honest, but as said; the higher you go, the better chance of getting it :)
That has been the case for us at least, and that has also been what I've seen people claiming to be how it works.

Round-ish bolders usually contain metal. The less edgey they are the higher the chance you have a metal bolder. Metal pick also mines more metal.

You're beautiful. I've been looking for images of rocks that contain metal for a day or two, and it seemed like no one thought to do the rational thing and take screenshots. A guide on how to get metal mentioned that the rocks had a specific appearance, and yet had no screenshots. Was ridiculous.
