Point of the compass?

So... The item description says it will let me know which direction I'm facing, and that's it. Is it really all it does?

Because, I mean, why would I use 16EP to be able to craft an item to know which direction I'm facing when I can already get the exact same information by checking the sun and whatever landmark (most likely a coast) I've got nearby?

Comes down to preference I guess.. Same could be said about IRL ;)

If you ever get lost, you can use the compass at the same time with the map and walk in the direction to where your camp is by looking at the compass and the map. I think it's really usefull since you don't see yourself on the map, but 16 ep -is- a lot of points.

Yes it would come down to preference. 16EP to be lazy.

I actually got lost while exploring inland a few times, but found my way back thanks to the big alien floating things (I've got a base less than a hundred meters from a blue one, you see).

So, yeah. If it really does nothing else, I guess I'll pass on that one. Thank you for your answers.
