SSDs help a great deal in loading times. It also speeds up the game in those times when it wants to load something from your hdd to memory (I'm not sure, but I would bet that it happens often in ARK, since the game is like... 20 gigs, and there is no way it puts even a fraction of that to your RAM when you join a server), so those times you would notice a performance boost as well.
When your memory is full, your operating system uses a so called pagefile on your hdd as virtual memory. When this happens games get insanely sloooow. In these cases you should see a huge performance increase with SSDs, but gamers should avoid this scenario, and just have enough RAM. If you have this issue it would be cheaper and more beneficial to get additional RAM.
I run an i5, 8gb ram, GTX 680
I can play the game on high, with no stuttering at all. FPS hits around 25-30, depends on the area but it is good enough!
On Medium I get a solid 35-40, low gives me the same amount as medium.
