Why are raptors so hard to find???

I am looking for a raptor for the past 30 minutes and i found nothing...

They are rarely on the beach more often back in the woods a little ways. They aren't as common as trikes but they are around.

Raptors are much less common than Dilophosaurs, try running about in the jungle. When you do find one, it's likely that it will be a high level, so watch out and take multiple spears with you.

Weird, I can't seem to get anywhere without running into raptors. Can't find a scorpion for my life tho. (would like to tame)

scorpions are much more common in base of volcano/mountains i recommend you check there :)

After defecating myself twice on the beach and frollicking around completely lost. I had finally gathered enough materials to build my first fire. By this point I was thirsty and had no idea how to drink. Then the raptors found me. I died. Good game. Would poop again.

The mountain in the north east has raptors galore!
We hid from a group of 9 last night that had a t-rex escort. They were killing a group of 5 sabers. The night before that on the other side of the mountain (the western side of the north eastern mountain for those keeping track) we saw a group of 7 raptors with a pack of 6 sabers taking out mammoths.
Raptors are around and they will find you.

Raptors are the fastest dino. I tamed one and had it trained up a good 20 levels but unfortunately he died when I came across 2 sabers and tried to take them on. :( Of course I died as well but took one out and went back and tamed the other. The saber is almost as fast but has higher carrying load so loaded with a heavy inventory the sabers can be faster; all depends on the slowdown from weight.

Also Raptors are wicked at defense so I stopped dragging along my posse of 6 various dinos and just used my 1 raptor for the longest time. Time to go find another to tame and train back up.
