this is why i lok at it as ounces.. i do deliveries of household goods, bedroom furniture kitchen apliances etc. believe me when i say carrying something like a washing machine alday is not doable lol even if you was a huge muscle man!!, 27.7 kg is 1000 ounces and IS realistic carry weight for a backpack alday and working could probably go higher in weight to 50 and still run fo r abit. still their math is of by some and neds working out!!
Firefighters carry 75lbs of equipment and just look at what they have to do. 100lbs isnt much if you go to the gym and do the farmer's carry, and looking at the default character model, he is capable of more than 100lbs.
i totally agree, its about using the game mechanics to your advantage, i had one of those spiked turtles and had him carrying like 4 or 5 stacks of wood, he was a bit slow to start with and got down to crawling speed but it does the job and makes the game alot more challenging.
That being said, i agree with other posters that by the time you get 50 or so stones for defence/attacking with sling its almost all gone, there is some balancing to be done in terms of each items weight, but maybe 200 and a bit of a balance would be a good starting point
As I said... the muscles on the character are huge... not realistic since the majority of people don't have that kind of muscle mass.
Try lugging around a 60-75 pound rucksack... 25 pounds more and you got 100. People in the military do it... within limits now. And yeah you'd get tried fast lugging that much weight around if you were running. The idea for a sled is actually a nice idea.

Though as this article shows, it's damn rough on them.
Soldiers regularly lug around 70-80 pounds on patrol, loads of >90 aren't unheard of either. To be fair, that's actually a health hazard and the recommended limit is about half of that, but the military is well known for not giving a damn.
You are on dinosaur hunger games island probably set up by damn aliens!
With the sheer amount of crap you have to gather in this game to build even basic items IDK if 100 burden is acceptable, may be 250, or bell curve it from a hundred on 'hardest' difficulty down.
I get that you can use dinosaurs to carry way more than your weight, but I'd imagine it's not something players are going to get until they are at least level 3 and have enough berries, right?
It was always 100 on multiplayer, and the devs have said this was an erroneous value. It was always meant to be 100. So if anyone is arguing realism, it's the people who made the stat to begin with.
I for one was only questioning the general idea of 100lbs being an easy load to carry all day. Not in game, specifically.. just the general claim that 100lbs is not hard to carry.
I just can't help but imagine that like having a small adult female riding piggy pack all day while I run around and fight and cut wood and build stuff.
It makes for an interesting visual however.
That being said how much boxes fir should likely be increased.
