Ports not Forwarding?
So I have the server set up, and it runs, but when I use a portchecker website it says the ports aren't forwarded. Is this normal? I have port 7777 and 27015 forwarded, I run the server, but various sources tell me that they aren't opened.

see my ports in my router: http://imgur.com/qNjNMnm

and in windows firewall: http://imgur.com/uglIoxN

Also, just as a test I have set up a minecraft server (I don't play the game), and it displays the ports as opened.

Did you open the ports via the windows firewall and your router?

Not sure , but there you only have port forwarding for UDP packets.

I'm not sure if ARK uses TCP , but it should use both TCP and UDP packets ... guessing here , but can you try to edit those router tables to both TCP and UDP protocols and see if it works ?

You can also try to disable Windows firewall ( or any firewall program ) for a while just to troubleshoot if that is the culprit.

I'll assume you are using a fixed ip and your pc is always 192.168.0.2 in the network. ( If you use DHCP , your ip might change )

I will try... I heard it uses UDP, but I will do both.

Always do both as a rule of thumb.

Your problem was that if you have two machines at home on the same network and one is running the server, you other home machine will not be able to join via Steam servers list. The routing out, in, out and back in again screws it up. You'll have to join via the LAN option. People outside your network will be able to join via steam though. I just ran into the same situation.

If you're on the same network as the server, you'll see the server through LAN. That's not a problem. It's only players on other networks that would need to see it in something other than LAN. Have you had someone on another network attempt to log in?
