[SOLUTION] Getting tribe chat to work for people without a '/'-key

To do this you will have to manually edit the file containing the keybindings and then restart the game.

Go to YOURSTEAMFOLDER\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Config and open up DefaultInput.ini in notepad.
In it you will see a line that looks like this:
+ActionMappings=(ActionName="ShowTribeChat",Key=Slash,bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False)

Just change the Key=Slash part to another key. I recommend O because it's not bound to anything else.

Voila, you can now talk in tribe chat!

O is binded to drop items from ur inventory just by hovering over it and not needing to use the Drop item thingy actually ...

Drop item keybind was added later. So there was nothing binded to O when the OP made this thread.

Is anyone still getting the issue where they can't toggle Tribe Chat?

I've tried rebinding it.
I've tried manually changing it in the DefaultInput.ini file.

But it's stuck in Local mode.

Help/ideas appreciated.

Local mode? With my knowledge in local mode ( singleplayer ) there is no chat at all. So even "enter" does not open the global chat for me. :)
Because, why would you chat with yourself? :p

There is, but it doesn not work for tribe chat with some keyboard types.

It's on a mutliplayer unofficial server... but as mentioned... whenever I type something it goes "PlayerName (Local): test"

It's just the default setting I guess.

Anyway, maybe it's a bugged tribe thing... I'll see if remaking the tribe fixes it.

Experiencing the same problem. Could possibly be a "per server" problem as its not just me on the server i play in.

already tried rebinding and all my keys are working fine since assigning / to something else makes it work (i.e. i set / to toggle the chatbox and that works just fine)

so its really specifically the tribe chat function

Saw some fix for this in the upcoming patch notes.

I did some testing on my test server:

- when you ENABLE global chat... all 3 work correctly via bound keys (global, local, tribe)
- when you DISABLE global chat... only local chat works

So it's a game bug confirmed by testing on 3 different PCs.
